Burner TP with Accra Shaft T50 M3

Hi Guys,

Well it arrived last week actually but I wanted to play a round and a session at the range last night first before writing.

I have recently had fitted a Taylormade Burner TP head to a Accra T50 M3 shaft, this suits my swing speed of 88-91mph, head is the TP 9.5 degree, the T50 is 50 grams as sold standard with the Burner and the M3 is slightly stiffer than a regular shaft.

Well played Sunday and hit it as far as I do in summer at a lot lower than my old standard burner.

Anyone else got Accra shafts they feel full of power on the downswing through the hitting area.

Just thought I would share that with you.

Ian.

I've heard good reports about the burner (both tp and normal) and being a TM fan i've wanted to try one but i've been put off by the 50g shaft. My current driver has a 75g shaft fitted. I understand the theory about lighter shaft = greater swing speed but not sure how suited it would be to my swing (100+mph). Everyone is different I suppose and i'm glad you like it.

Hi dave,

I had the standard one, fantastic club very forgiving and top quality, simply opt for the stiff shaft for your swing speed, the 50 gram is in conjunction with the head and length of the club, so don't worry about that.

The TP is a little smaller and I just like the workability of it, also a little more feel.

Both are truly great clubs.

Ian.

I wonder if you've got the heavier shaft because you tend to get a little quick and the extra weight smooths you out?

I've actually got a bunch of AG 400 heads (lofts 8-14) and a bunch of Frenzy shafts in R,S,X weighted from 50g to 80g.

I found for myself I get more feel in the 70 and 80g shafts, while I lose al feel with the 50 and 60g - but I gained 8 mph going from the 70 to the 50! Not worth it when I had more distance due to on center hits.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Yes thats exactly right, my bad shot is a low hook. I find that with the heavier shaft it virtually never happens.

Yes I agree that the tp model definitely looks better. Is the face 2degrees open like all other tp drivers?
