worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

I just recently purchased taylor made rac os2 with the 90 gram shaft....

Points
1. He did fit me for the lie with this black swing board
2. He did not custom fit me for the shaft...i am worried that the 90gram shaft will not be stiff enough....

I have already paid him so i am hoping if these shafts dont fit my swing he will replace.....my swing speed is moderate so i am worried about this light shaft as i have heard it can cause you to pull shots....this is my first purchase so i want it to be as custom as possible as i am 6'3 and have played with standards for some time....i measured 3/4 long but went with 1 inch long .....QUESTION is quarter inch going to effect me?

Re: worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

Boy oh boy... where to start?

You hit off the lie board (that's the black board). OK - what was your ball flight doing?

Perhaps you are custom fit for the 90g shaft. A moderate swing speed is lacking numbers. How fast were you measured for, and with what club(s)?

At 6'3" and I'll assume normal length arms I'd guess your favourite most comfortable swinging club is a 6 or 5 iron.

Assuming the lie angle is bent properly, the extra quarter inch won't effect you much - you'll either stand a little more upright or stand a little further away from the ball - neither of which is necessarily bad unless it's moving you away from optimal.

Shaft weight is not an indicator of stiffness. It's an indicator of weight. (I know, but some folks forget this). Too light and you can lose club feel, but if your swing speed is low, it will also help bring it up.

What were you fit for, and what were you fit with? Please describe your fitting.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Re: worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

i dont know my swing speed...i am figuring i should have asked about that from the independent dealer but i dont think he had the technology....i was fitted for a set of taylor made rac os2....at standard he firgured to only bend a degree because i was only a little off centered.... i believe my favorite standard has to be my four iron and maybe the six...i think i hit them fairly the same i guess....

i currently play with snake eyes...i think it says custom light shaft.....my swing speed is not super fast but i can get after it a bit with some control....i carry my 9 iron roughly 145-155....four iron 200-210..but these are precise strikes...i wanted game improvement irons b/c i hit fairly well with the small cavity backs and figured this would boost my game....i already hit the ball fairly high....from what i read these clubs are to help and i'm feeling like will this make me lose distance on my clubs....having a lot of second thoughts about these and they havent come in yet

the fitting entailed the guy measuring my arms and hitting the on the board

hope this helps.....cuz i need it....i think im spinning my own brain

Re: worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

Did the fitter recomend the Taylor Mades?

I doubt the shaft will be too much of a problem. Though I doubt he will replace the shafts for nothing.

On the length, it is easier to take of a 1/4 inch then to extend the club. I would not worry about that either.

Now going to an off set club would give me some worries. Have you tried them before?

Don't accept the clubs without hitting EVERY club off the lie board.

Re: worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

No he didnt recommend the Taylor made i hit the wilson staff, latest cobra, draw r7, and i think the ping G10 or whatever they are......i didnt hit all of them...but they felt good....this is my first time playing an offset

when you say dont accept the clubs is that after the fact...as i said i already paid for them....so it sounds like i am screwed if these dont work out....i do want to take them somewhere to see if the lies were really changed and the club not just extended

i am figuring you are suggesting that once they come in hit every one off the lie board and if not really close to center have him bend them some more

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying. Before you go home with them, you need to hit them all off the lie board and have them adjusted as necessary.

Re: worried about new purchase....please tell me what i can do

i checked all the clubs on the swing board and to my suprise they were very square in the middle on all shots.....so i went and played and the clubs felt very good...a couple shots were kinda high but boy did they travel....the long irons were almost illegal to hit b/c it was so easy...the short irons require more of a finesse swing .....the shaft is stiff 95 grams...once i figure the proper swing speed across the board my scores are going to drop..i can just feel it

i only played 9 holes so experience is limited but they felt darn good on the first impression....thx to all that gave advice
