What will happen if you chop the shaft?

I went to a demo day and the winner was a Titleist D2 with an xstiff voodoo shaft.
I prefer a 1" shorter than std. driver. What will happen if I chop the shaft?
I heard that Tiger was experimenting with various shaft lengths but such alternatives were not avail. on demo day.

The club will:

Frequency higher
Swingweight/MOI lower
Weigh less

You may hit it better regardless.
