Full Release X-Wrap Grips, does anybody know

anything about these grips. Do they actually work or is it just another golf marketing gimmick. $100.00 sure is a lot of money for a set of grips.

I'm sorta curious about them, too... I'm thinking of regripping my driver with them, and see if I still slice.

I can't see them working with a standard golf grip - I would think that being more like a baseball bat, the baseball grip would be the grip to use.

I think if they had really found the cure for the slice they would be selling them for a lot more than that, Al.

A plan to save you money.....

Ladies grips do exactly the same job!!! And they are about a quarter the price.

Thinner grips promote drawing/hooking of the ball because they allow the hands more action through the ball. Thats why a lot of players who draw the ball get an extra tape put under their grips because it smoothes the draw out a bit.

Or alternatively.......fix your swing path.....old fashioned but its guaranteed.

These companies should be publicly flogged for making such outrageous claims. Teaching Pro could probably give us a solid number on this but I would imagine only 10-20% of golfers slice because they dont have enough hand action. the other 80-90% because they have a huge cut across the ball on the way through.....

Im not taking the U-know-what here, I just hate seeing people waste money on this stuff when they could better spend it improving more of their game with a couple of lessons and some hard work.

If either of you take the plunge and it works, let me know. I know a dozen guys who would buy in to it as well, unfortunately...

I just had a look at the link in Al's post (I had looked them up myself but not on the official website) And something reared up and howled at me.

"FREE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These are the words I was looking for. Its the video you are paying for not the grips. Its the same thing with the Momentus thing, they always take great care to say that "and after a few minutes instruction" blah blah blah. This is a get out clause for them. If these wonder products dont work the company will just say you didnt understand the instructions....

Almost anyone can hit the ball a bit straighter after a lesson, and if they really work hard grooving the changes they might stick and think that the gizmo did all the work (the ads never show you the other 10 guys it didnt help I always find)

Run a mile from this stuff guys. The money is far better spent on a couple of hours lessons of a reputable teaching professional.

I have had a good look at the grips as well. They look like they are made out of the cheapest materials. You can get the same grips from golfsmith (not the shape of course just the material) for about $2 which would make a set of irons about $20. Now even if the company is getting charged a premium of 50% to make these grips a different shape by the rubber company (which I doubt because they probably just mould them upside down) that makes it $30 a set. So in essence I would say they are charging you $70 for an instructional video, less their costs of course.

Would you pay $70 for an instructional video by anyone? Not even the likes of Harmon, Leadbetter or Haney would think they would get away with that.

It's the same with the Momentus. A generic type head is only a couple of bucks to produce and the weighted shaft probably not a heck of a lot more since true tempers most expensive shaft retails at about £13 and im sure its just as much to make as the momentus shaft. Again you get a "FREE INSTRUCTIONAL VIDEO" which is where the money is going, basically the guys at Momentus golf found a way to charge $50 for an intructional video and tacked on a bonus gadget. Momentus does have the unique advantage of actually working (why else would the tour Pro's use it although I think its more for the fact that its basically a dumbell shaped like a golf club to help them loosen up) as long as you follow the instructions but that still doesnt mean you arent being charged through the nose for it.

The less the average club golfers of the world buy this sorry tat the better off golf would be especially honest club pro's who make a living mainly out of lessons....

I second Darryl - everyone is trying to buy the latest gimmick or gizmo to MAGICALLY improve their game. It's like people are afraid of a little hard work to have a good game on their own skills. If your game stinks, go see an instructor (with a good teaching rep) to get you on track. All the high priced equipment, training aids and the loads of other **** will rarely produce like 2 or 3 lessons will.

I'm not so sure that they're a "slice killer". Slices are not always caused by inactive pronation (rolling) of the hands, they come from swing faults that range from slightly serious to bloody disasterous. No grip will ever cure that.

In any event, assuming you don't have a swing fault that is causing the slice you want the right hand to roll over the left through impact. By holding the thick part in your right hand is actually going to discourage the pronation, not encourage it.

I wouldn't fit them or encourage them because if you slice, the grip is the least of your problems, not to mention the fact about the right hand holding the fattest part of the grip!
