I'm looking at some iron shafts on Ebay and it says they have parallel tips. Any idea what this means and do the shafts I want to change have to have parallel tips too?

There's two types of tip - parallel and taper. The rule of thumb is that woods taper and irons are parallel.

No, if the shaft you're replacing is taper, you can buy shims to fill the parallel cavity.

That said, I don't know of any way to get a parallel shaft into a taper hosel.

But it's best to know for sure. Call the MFR of the heads you're reshafting, and ask if the hosel is taper or parallel.

Its a moot point though, most shafts come in taper and parallel these days anyway. If you must use the wrong type then you just buy the brass shims, as Low Post says, for taper to parallel or buy smaller diameter parallel and use shims again.
