| Re: New Clubs - Shafts - Help Thank you Ian for your reply. Funny, I have a Taylor Made Rac LT 7 iron demo at my home right now, and I have to tell you it feels pretty darn good. I must admit that I get more distance with the BBF irons, but I wonder if it is because of the lighter shaft or the titanium face. I think they are a tad bit on the ugly side, and I love the look of the RAC LT. I have a dealer looking into a lighter steel shaft in the Rac, but am afraid that it might change the feel too much. | Re: New Clubs - Shafts - Help Not at all Lynn, they are very light compared with my old Callaway's but like you say thay hit the ball very well. I think they should suit a lady because of the weight, I have arms like pyjama strings, but we both know that golf is not about brawn, but brains and of course, left arm, grip, feet, posture, knees, back, swing plane, weight distibution etc etc and thats before we hit the darn thing. Seriously if you are a good player then the LTs should be fine with a standard regular, our swing speeds are nearly the same. Ian.

| Re: New Clubs - Shafts - Help Not at all, If they are to stiff then you would be pushing the ball straight right and if they are to soft then you would be hooking. I think it's due to your new clubs being new, they maybe a little heavier than you old ones and you are throwing them from the top a little, not a swing fault you just need to settle in with them. | Re: New Clubs - Shafts - Help I have seen quite a few replies in here regarding reshafting the Callaway clubs as well as what else can and should be checked/adjusted. Just a thought but if you want a general idea as to where you should be regarding the various adjustments (loft/lie andgle, club length, grip size, shaft, etc.), you can go to http://www.golfsmith.com/ps/oem_ocf.php. Answer the questions honestly and it will give you a good place to start regarding the various customizations and yes, you can choose the Callaway X-18 irons. Granted, this is no substitute for a custom fitting session with a qualified professional but it will give you a good "jumping-off point". |

| Just to chime in...... I am 5'8" and play the 2004 Big Bertha irons. I have the standard length and lie and Uniflex shafts. As my moniker states, I've come back from a 30 year lay off from golf. Started playing again July 4th weekend....so almost 3 months back into it. I play 2-3 rounds per week. I started off with a complete set of Nicklaus signature series clubs. The shafts are all graphite (woods and irons). As I purveyed my way back to dialing in a swing, I came to the place where I felt these clubs were holding me back. I have not been fitted yet but I have been to the Ping and Callaway site, as well as a couple other online fitting questionnaires. In deciding on the Ping G2 or Callaway BB (fusion or 2004) I came out as standard fit with uniflex shaft. I also bought a 2005 Big Bertha Titanium driver. I found a great deal on ebay on some barely (I mean barely) used BB irons. Got the driver new...reg flex RH 65 Graphite shaft. When I got the clubs, I was hitting the driver very straight and around 180-200 yds. My irons were all over the place. The first hit with the BB driver was outa sight. So was the first round. I couldn't hit the irons as well as my old ones...and after struggling with them for a round, my driver went away and I couldn't do anything but hook that. Took a lesson (I take lessons about twice a month). My old irons were longer and flatter than the std callaway. We focused on how to set up with these irons. With this lesson and a couple of rounds, I have come to love these irons. When I miss with this irons, it's not the shaft, the lie, etc.... it's me. BTW....I am 47 years old (albeit a very youthful 47) and pretty strong and limber for my age. I had the driver reshafted and it was worse. Was ready to run out and spend big bucks on a high end Adila shaft and I stopped myself. I determined I was going to find out what broke down in my swing....and I did. Now, I am hitting the fairway most of the time and with a lot more prediction of my drive. Driving around 200-230. Maybe you need to take a few lessons to see if you are setting up properly and if you have any major swing faults. I almost got caught up in the same thing I see so many golfers do....they start looking for club faults vs. their own faults. They spend tons of effort fixing clubs that aren't broke. I have not had my swing speed checked yet but....I did struggle with the steel vs. the graphite for a few rounds and thought the clubs suxd. No more!!!
