Harrison steel iron shafts....

Bought a set of Cally Big Bertha Fusion irons with std Nippon Uniflex steel shaft in std length/loft/lie. Like the way they play. After playing 4-5 rounds, noticed about 1/2 my divots are deeper at toe. Knowing irons need to be properly fit, I asked around at the golf course as to where I could get this done. I received several recommendations to a place and decided to check them out. However, I had a few people tell me they felt this place was over priced and didn't always make the best suggestions.

So, I went anyways for a swing analysis/fitting session for $50. Started out hitting the 7 iron with tape on the sole and face tape. Face tape showed hitting in between the sweet spot and heel as much as hitting the sweet spot. Toe of club showing wear on sole tape.

Static measusrement showed lie was 2* too flat, length 1/2" too long. Tempo and swing speed tested next. tempo was .80-.85, 7 iron swing speed was 78-80 mph. When I focused and got the tempo to around 1.0, the swing speed was 85.

The 5 and 7 iron was put on digital frequency machine. 5 was 291, 7 was 299.

I was told I could get the clubs adjusted only in length and lie but.....the lie would have to come up and extra 2* (total of 4) because the shaft flex was too light for me. The shaft was not recovering, still leaving a toe down at impact. This would cause a properly fitted club to still be off.

Next. I was told I need a shaft with a firm flex...in between R and S. I needed a frequency that was high kick and around 311. A Harrison IS1 Professional Stepless shaft was the only recommendation. I asked about other shafts and mentioned Rifles. I was told that "I am a dealer for Rifle and they are "rebar".

I can see why some folks gave less than stellar recommendations on this place. While the guy seems reputable, I feel like I am being pushed into new shafts as the only real option out there. Additionally, no other shaft options were presented. There were no readings or measurements on face angle, ball speed, spin, etc.... Just hit into a net with tempo and swing speed devices along with face and sole tape.

My questions are:
1. Was enough info taken to get me the right fit? Should more info have been electronically recorded? I would hate to spend around $250 for new shafts and end up seeing little or no improvement.

2. Are the Harrision shafts a good quality shaft for irons?

3. The cost for reshafting and adjustment is $30-32 per club. Does this seem fair for this shaft and service?

4. I have heard that Cally irons are more difficult to work with in both adjustment and reshafting. While this person's shop is impressive, how would I know this person has the skill to not screw my irons up and do a good job?

5. Callaway will do a lie/length adjust for free. If I send back to them, should I tell them I need the extra bend in lie if I keep current shaft?

6. What else might I want to consider here?

I totally get the concept of proper fitting clubs....along with the right "engine". I am willing to invest in this as long as I am getting the right info and should see a major improvement....and feel confident I am in the right hands to get it done. This guy may be fine! I just don't want to screw up a fairly expensive set of clubs, turning good $ to bad.

A little about me...47yrs old...a very healthy and strong 47. Good flexibility. 5'8 1/2", 210 lbs. Started playing in July after 30 year layoff. Current handicap 25-30 and improving fast as I dial in my swing. Taking lessons and playing around 2-3 times per week. Hit driver 220 avg, 7 iron 145-150.

I am grateful for any help I will be getting here! I should add that the guy is going to make up a demo iron for me to try out. Won't be a Cally Fusion head but will be same shaft with same loft, lie, length.

Thanks again!!!
