| Shaft Frequency numbers? I have recently purchased a few sets of various flexed graphite shafts. They range in a set of 13, 3-w and 8-i, Regular flex, to woods and irons L flexed graphites. all are .370 and .335 tips Some of these sets have been FM and have the reading numbers on the butt end of the clubs. I realize the number indicates CPM, cycle per minute, the stiffer the shaft the higher the number. My question: One set of supposably ladies 50g shafts have number of 270-272 Another set by a different manufacturer are suppose to be Reg. 85g and have numbers 270-271? Hmm same numbers. because of difference in weight? A set of senior A flex .335 woods come in at 223-228 with one being a 208 Is there a number chart indicating where L ends, A begins, A ends R begins etc.? Thanks |

| Re: Shaft Frequency numbers? Things to keep in mind: The higher the number, the stiffer the shaft. A raw wood shaft on a 5" clamp with a 205g tip weight will cycle at about 250 CPM for an 'R' flex. Tip weights are inversely proportional to cycles. In other words, increasing the tip weight decreases the reading. Decreasing the tip weight increases the reading. Also, by tipping the shaft, it increases the reading. So 272 for an L flex? Either your weight is light, or the shaft has been cut. Do a search for a Kaufman chart. I think on the MyOstrichGolf.com website, there's a frequency chart. I think the link is on the frontpage, near or at the bottom.

| Re: Shaft Frequency numbers? Thanks guys for the responces I did some reading, and majority of it dealt with frequency reading of finished clubs. Doing way too much reading. My heads gonna explode But I did find Dave Tutelmans' articles a good readhttp://www.tutelman.com/golfclubs/De...lubmakeronline The shafts mentioned above are all raw uncut, just made me curious that the 50gr ladies iron shafts read out and marked 270cpm. Thinking the easiest way for a hobbiest to tell the flex of raw shafts is to make up some type of flex board Thanks again |
