Sounds good. With you going to a club fitter obviously they won't sell rubbish as their livelihood depends on selling quality equipment. Which club fitter did you go to? Do you think the Swing Glove has made you hit the ball straight and far or is it the clubs.

i went to made2measure golf in hyde cheshire
could be combination of both but this first timre ive been fitted for clubs and my old ones are so far out for me its untrue

It is quite interesting to read the differences on custom built clubs and the mass manufactured ones we normally buy, in terms of quality etc. I would say in my opinion the custom built market is perhaps under selling itself, but then again they save by not having big advertising campaigns like the big companies.

Slats - if they do it, get your clubs MOI'd to that six if you're hitting it very, very well. The last thing made2measure should do, once all the sticks are built, is to get you to warm up, and then hit every club off the lie board, adjust them, then hit them again.

Your clubmaker will know how to MOI. If he doesn't, ask him to keep the steps between your clubs .4" with a 7g step in headweight, with your 6i the target club. This is the 'fast and dirty' way to MOI match a set of irons. It's a 'better' method than swingweight matching (for those that have both). I've seen report after report that guys that move from SW matching to MOI matching prefer their MOI matched set better. Just my $0.02.

As for lie angle, as a fitter I always like to double check after I bend 'em - just to make sure (and IMO, you can never be too sure). Now, the reason I say your builder should have you hit every club off the board is that you may swing your 7i differently than your 3i, so just statically bending all your clubs based on, say, your 6i results is ludicrous. You may be really close using this method, but it's not the best job, IMO. If your fitter wants to charge extra for it, so be it. I don't offer 'one test, many bend vs many test many bend' offerings in my shop. I just do it. But if your fitter doesn't, he may feel like he needs more money for it.

The other way around it is that most shops tell you to come back after 3 rounds/range sessions with a report on how you're hitting your irons. You could run your own lie board testing, and just give your results to your fitter (ie heel marks tell him you're pulling, toe marks tell him you're pushing).

But, I'm just talking about a more thorough fitting.

i feel more confident now when collecting the clubs that i can tell if the job has been done properly.
he seems a good guy and i promised him ill go back when finances allow for a couple of wedges.

Assuming you're right-handed, tell him you want SMT Durometers. I'm tellin' ya - these are top notch. The best wedge I've ever used (and I'm a real wedge ho) - and at only $40/head, they're bar-none the best performing head for the money (read: best bang for your buck).

ive seen you extolling the virtues of this brand so im going to ask him for a quote on a couple of wedges.
i asked him about MOI and checking lie angle and yes that is part of the fitting service.

Hi Ian, I'm glad you like the look and feel of your new clubs. Please let me know how you get on tomorrow. I always like to make sure all my customers are happy with their new clubs. Just to clarify in one of your previous postings about your static fitting on my website. Your fitting suggested that you should be having clubs that are 5 degrees flat. As I recall, it also said 1 inch short as well. As this is only a static fitting, it does not take into account the dynamic lie changes that result in shortening a club. For every half inch a club is shortened, the lie is dynamically flattened by approx 2 degrees. So in fact, your 5 degrees flat becomes 1 degree flat. By the same token, any club fitter will tell you that a dynamic fitting is far better than a static one and wherever possible I prefer to see my customers face to face.
