Fitting my Clubs

I bought some PING clubs recently that I plan on keeping a while. I am also coming to the realization that thier standard length is impeding my improvement. I know this because I am on the shorter side of average yet my brother in law who is roughly the same height does not seem to have the same kinds of problems. He shoots high 80's low 90's and does not complain about having trouble. I shoot high 90's low 100's.

Can anyone tell me the value of a dynamic fitting as opposed to another kind of fitting?

And what would be a reasonable price to pay for such an expediture?
Just so I can have a ball park figure when I call around.

There are two generally accepted models of fitting: Dynamic and static. What you will get over the internet is a static fitting (granted, this can be augmented with video, but by and large it's a static fitting). Hard information is exchanged, and clubs are built from it (information such as wrist-to-floor measurement, height, swing speed, pizza topping preference, etc). It's worth mentioning that static fitting is a fantastic starting place.

A dynamic fitting is the logical continuation of a proper fitting (started with or without a static fit). Your swing is looked at, your equipment is evaluated, and decisions are made based on what you're showing. This is done in person (although it can be closely achieved remotely with a skilled fitter and some good video).

The price will vary shop to shop. Some people run cut rate for an internet fitting. Some are $100/hour for in person. Likewise, the timeframe will be anywhere from 45 minutes to 3 hours.

But the decision is right to get fitted. My only other suggestion is that big box stores may not have anyone truly qualified. My experience states that most barely know how to run the launch monitor.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

I called my local Golfsmith and the clubfitting rep told me over the phone that a dynamic fitting would be $18/club to reshaft or cut them down (?)
Is it better to reshaft instead of cutting down my shafts? What would the effect be of reshafting as opposed to cutting down? ( I ask this question knowing the answer already. I just want to hear it from someone else.

Since I have no 3/4 in my irons set it will only be about $100. I think it sounds reasonable. What does anyone else think about this?

Should I keep looking?

If it's determined that the flex is OK, then simply adjusting length will be OK - including lengthening up to 1.5".

If the flex is wrong, then a reshaft will be in order.

As for $18/club? Does that include the price of the shaft?
