First Swing Speed Measurements

This club fitter hobbyist has been trying to sell me this Wishon driver for a couple weeks now. Wednesday he brought a swing speed monitor out to the range and I hit a few shot.

I hit my 5 iron and my driver.
5 Iron was a cool 98 mph every time.
Driver was at 105mph and 106 mph.
I really thought there would be more difference between the 2 clubs. Is this about the normal difference?

I think this explains a lot with my golf game and the importance of club fitting. I bought some Taylor Made Rac lt irons used off a club pro that used them for a year. They have the 6.0 rifle shafts in them. Which I found out are rated really stiff. I love hitting these, they just feel perfect.

Drivers on the other hand, I tend to spray them all over the place. I've hit some "Firm" rated shafts and a bunch of "Regular" shafted drivers. Hit a lot of shots left with the regular and firms and then tend to slice it when try to compensate it from going left.

The wishon driver the guy is wanting me to get is 11 degree with an xstiff shaft and a high kickpoint. I was absolutely crushing it on the range. I was launching it higher than my driver I'm using now, which is great. I've always had problems getting my drives to flight longer. Now if I could just s****e some cash together

Re: First Swing Speed Measurements

If he's trying to get you into the new 919THI, I suggest you let him.

This head has broken new records for consecutive days in the bag for me.

Re: First Swing Speed Measurements

I would say you do need a stiff shafted driver with your swing speed. I was on the bubble with a swing speed of 95 so I always went with a reg flex. After fighting bad ball flight I went with a stiff flex driver and now hit the ball more consistantly. I dont know if you should get x stiff. I would hit the stiff first and see how you like it. The trade off is distance for control.

It is the new 919THI. What would you think is a fair price with this driver. I know it largely depends on the shaft which I didn't get the make of. Let's just assume $75 shaft.

OK, a $75 shaft, we'll assume a $5 grip...

Considering what any new OEM would cost you...

Given the shop time...

Without even charging you for a fitting... (just gluing this thing up for you)...

I could probably ask 275-300 and you'd be very, very happy with what you got for the price you paid. Even happier when you're finding more fairways and blowing it buy guys hitting their trashcan-sounding Sumo2's.

Good deal, the grip on it is super nice, so I know it's more than $5. He's offering it to me for $240. I think part of that is to get a few out on the course so people see what it can do and he'll get more business.

$240 used or new? Either way, it's a great head at a great price.

Re: First Swing Speed Measurements

It would be new...sort of. Besides being demoed with tape on the face.
