Distances

I really want to get a more accurate measure of my distances for each club. I have a rough idea, but I'm sure I could shave off at least 2 or 3 strokes a round on the green if I could get the ball closer on my approach.

The driving range is really hard to actually measure accurately since the ball just lands out there somewhere, hits another ball and takes off.

I was thinking about going to one of those indoor places with the computers, but I'm not sure how accurate those things are in telling real distances.

Any advice??

They are not and don't rely on them. There is only one way to get to know your distances: play a practice round by yourself on the weekday and hit several shots with the ball you always play with. Bring a note pad and take each distance down. Hit 4 shots at each position and take the average. Keep doing this. After about 20 shots with each club, you will begin to get it pretty close.

Can I do that when I only pay for one player?

Yes, as long as you are not holding up players behind you and fix all divots and ball marks.
