My humblist appologies

This is probably the hardest thing i have ever wrote.

Until recently i never knew this site even existed, but since stumbling across it one day i have to say that it is without doubt the very best forum i have ever seen regarding this wonderful game. So many people willing to give a few hours a day ( Such as SHOOTIN4PAR, GREGJWILLIS,IAN HANCOCK, PNEARN, LOWPOST AND SLATER AND MANY MORE) to help out peolple who find themselves struggling with various aspects of their game. Not so many years ago ( believe it or not ) i was playing off a scratch handicap, i thought i was a golfing god . People would regulary come to me for advice and i would basically shun them, or point them in the diection of the local PRO. I really thought i was the bee's knee's.

one morning i was driving home from work ( i'd just finished my regular 12 hour stint ) and i was hit by another car who had jumped a red light, all i can remember is just driving along listening to CLASSIC FM on my radio , the next thing i was waking up 4 days later in intensive care. i had a broken femur , numerous cracked ribs, broken collar bone and severe head injuries. The next couple of months are still a blur to me.
Everybody thought i was on the road to a full recovery, but something was very wrong. I would lose the odd hour without explanation , i would forget simple things like leaving the front door unlocked at night , forgetting to turn off the gas on the stove, going to work 12 hours too early. forgetting where i left the car in a car park.
I went back to my G.P , and after many tests , found that the head injuries were worse than first thought. I had developed SYMPTOMATIC PARTIAL EPILEPSY. After the initial shock of the diagnosis and then the months of feeling sorry for myself, i decided that i was either going to remain a victim of circumstance , or face up to the future. thankfully i chose the latter.
After the accident and with the onset of my epilepsy, my personality changed somewhat. I became prone to irrational behaviour ( behaviour that cost me my marriage and several good friends except one person...known to you as AFTFORD ), but now thanks to modern medicine and occupational therapy there is light at the end of the tunnel.

I have even started playing golf again, but never without aftford and a few close work colegues. I know i will never be the person i was. I know my golf game will never , ever be as good as it was, but that dosn't bother me at all. I just love playing golf, no matter how good or how bad i play.

Some days i am my old self , other days i am this person that even i don't recognise ( i can be rude , short tempered, irratible, NEVER VIOLENT ).
So my friends if i post a reply that is out of character, all i can do is appologise sincerely.

may the golfing gods shine on you all and especially my very best friend AFTFORD............highest regards .Terry

Re: My humblist appologies

Verry difficult thing to go through Terry, I wish you the best

You and Andy seem to know so much about the game, you two should pair up and take some underprivilaged junior golfers under your wings. I am sure that would be a good experience for everyone involved and you would be able to help the golfing gods shine on someone
take care of yourself
Neil
