| Re: Carrying v Trolley I used a pull-cart (trolley) up until this year. I didn't find much difference in stress on my body (in fact I found it easier), but I did find that being able to carry my bag almost anywhere on the course was much more convienent. |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley hi i use a trolley if you see the 12th hole in my avatar you can see it tees off about 50 yards above a small lake and you play up to a green thats a good 60 yards above you on the tee and is 170 yards away. it means you have to walk down to the bottom of the lake then have a good 120 yard uphill walk to the top. at 54 years old it does have me panting carrying my bag up there and i feel using a push trolley lets me recover from the climb before i tee off on the next hole. bill

| Re: Carrying v Trolley Bill, I'd probably order a taxi to play that hole! Generally though what I can't understand is why, even if you were very fit, you'd want to expend any unnecessary energy carrying a bag. I certainly know a few guys who carry bags purely because it's not seen as 'macho' to have a trolley and others who simply carrry one because it's the 'in vogue' thing to do. I'm a qualified personal trainer and I cannot see any physical benefit to your game from carrying. |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley After being a card-carrying carrier for the 4 years I've been playing, I busted out a 3 wheel trolley the other day (as I didn't want to swap my clubs from my 'cart' bag to my 'carry' bag (the cart bag has a Torq strap to hold the bag to the cart, while my carry bag has the Shling carry system). We have quite a climb on one particular hole, short and steep. Normally I'm struggling to breathe quietly (as one partner puts it), but with the trike I was fine. Since I like to walk, but also have my bag loaded with junk (umbrella, rain gear, winter gear, 3L of water, 1L gatorade) it's nice to take that load off my back, but still get the benefit of walking. The trike may see much more use in the future!

| Re: Carrying v Trolley Enter the 3 wheeler - just like pushing a stroller. You're not always working to balance it, you just give it a shove, and make sure it's going straight down hills (and then let go, assuming there's no creek at the bottom!) |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley Any recommendations? I bought a Mizuno GTO carry bag which is (just about) trolley adaptable. Mind you it takes a lot less than my old cart bag which night explain some of the reduction in stress. |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley hi i agree so much with what lowpost said, i now have a 4 wheel trolley. two small wheels on the front and its effortless to push apart from a real steep hill. i also find it better to use in the cold with my chunky mits on than trying to carry a bag and keep my hands warm. bill |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley I carry. Before my first time out, I thought it would be exhausting, but found that it was really no load at all. I have a Sun Mountain 3.5 bag and my clubs seem pretty light to me. As far as trekking around with a cart, I would think it would be more work than carrying since you have to lug the cart's weight along with your bag. |

The tires are tube rather than solid, so the cart rides nicer. Best of all, it's only $125 CAD. |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley hi mine is a greenhill push'n'pull and its a great trolley. like lowpost i carry a lot of wet weather gear and something thick and warm too + drinks also and my ping 9 1/2 inch bag does give me lots of room but heavy too, my 52" putter makes the bag hard to carry as it sticks out so much, don't notice using the trolley. bill |

| Re: Carrying v Trolley just played 18 ( 1st time since mid august ), carried as usual.felt fine until i had to get up out of my dining chair to collect a prize, for finishing 5th, and my legs would'nt work, much to the amusement of the league members.still think carrying is best , especially in winter when all carts have to go around the pathways near the greens, you can take your bag directly to your ball then choose your club.also it feels like you have had a good workout. |
