Re: iron covers...who uses them?

Since I'm about to play forged irons (Snake Eyes 600 XC), and having bought a used set of forged irons (MaxFli Revolution Red) that look like they've been used to beat people, I have every intention of using iron covers.

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

Seems to me the only people using them are already SLOWER THAN MOLLASIS!!

Take the SHOT! already its not a Ferrari
geez!!

I understand on the Soft Forged Irons though! If I could afford a set of MP33's I might think about trying them....?

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

Just remember, Gary, that part of successfully hitting that little ball is liking the way it looks sitting next to your club.

I've never bothered with them on my cast irons.

The problem, IMO, with iron covers is that you need to take the time to clean your irons well before putting the cover on it. This is tougher with cavity back irons that you've buried after hitting a bad shot.

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

Iron head covers are a waste of money. You only need one on your putter and your driver to protect them from scratches. who cares if you get a tiny scratch on one of your irons. It also can be very frustrating putting them on and off for every shot!

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

I wouldn't be seen dead with iron covers. No way in hell.

When I got a set of Mizuno's, they were shipped with Mizuno logo'd covers and I proceeded to burn them even before I hit the irons.

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

i never used to use them when i used a trolley but a couple of rounds of using a carry bag i bought a set just to deaden the clacking sound of the irons banging together!

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

I bought a set about a month ago.
Im happy with them, takes a bit of getting used to, but since I carry my bag I just put them on as I walk to my next shot and its no biggie.
Also the bag is much quieter. (especially when it falls over)

Re: iron covers...who uses them?

I had never used them before, until last week.

I took my new X-18's out to clean them one night and a couple of them had some bad marks starting.

I got a set of the neoprene covers and it only takes me just a second to slip it back on. I have a brass potato brush hanging from my bag that I clean my clubs with after most every shot anyway. So the cleaning part isn't an issue.

So far they don't seems to be too aggrivating or time consuming.

Ricky

WHAT IRON COVERS???? I just started golf, but I have never even heard of or seen iron covers before. You putter hits the ball only and so does the drivers, but the irons hit the ground with such force, I think they get enough abuse on the course that there is no point in covering an already marked up iron.

The ground is a lot softer than each clubhead, and also have "give".

Not to mention when your bag falls over...

I use covers . I treat my Cobra Irons like my children: they are part of me and always will be!
