who is the best golfer of all times I am still wondering who would be the best golfer of all times. Its the winning Majors most money on tours or good guys. My list is short and sweet Mr Tom Morris sr and jr, one and only Mr Jones Mr Arnold Palmer and the man himself Mr Nicklaus. Faldo's Trevion"s and others will come and go in the history of GOLF. Tiger Woods man on the spot 12 Majors and moving on? WHO DO U THINK IS THE GREATEST? OR IS IT's Mr BEN HOGAN, I say why because he came back after the accident. Who is the greatest as a golfer and as a person. ![]()

Re: who is the best golfer of all times Incomparable. Each dominated their own era. That said, if it's based off accomplishments, I'd say Bobby Jones for winning the Grand Slam. Had he had the health and motivation to play longer, I think he could have set all sorts of other records.

Re: who is the best golfer of all times I agree with the "too many variables" as being the a great reason against picking the best of all time. Equipment, competition, and conditions all come into play, and were all different from one great golfer to the other. I will say this. I would have liked to have seen Hogan and Woods square off, in their prime. I say this just because I think these two golfers had the game that allowed, and now allows them to intimidate the other players into submission. All the great players have this attitude, but Hogan, and Woods were/are way a head of the others. I am suprised that some TV/computer guru has not come up with show pitting all the past great against each other to come up with an eventual best of the best. Some of you might remember when this was done with all the pro boxers over the years. GJS

| Re: who is the best golfer of all times I'm known in my club as the luckiest golfer ever. I hit balls that are destined for the river in the lat hazard, but they find a tree and spit back into the fairway. A thicket of trees holds my ball? No problem. It's generally sitting nicely, with a look to the green. If there's a friendly kick to have, or a positive outcome to a negative scenario, I usually get it. Trying to lay up, and instead I hook it? No problem. It sails through the trees, through the branches, and leaves a small chip to the green. That's my game, baby. ![]()

Re: who is the best golfer of all times hi lowpost i have had days like that but sadly not many, most time i seem to get stuck in the deepest face in the bunkers and most here are about 6 feet deep. most time i drive off aiming at a bunker and let it fade away but you always hit that odd one right down the middle and it always seems to be that bit longer so runs right up into the face of the bunker lol. bill

Re: who is the best golfer of all times LOL - I hear you, Bill. Take a look at my current avatar. It was a short par 3 (~ 130 yards) into a decent headwind. The problem was that the green was surrounded by tall trees - so you couldn't detect the wind that was howling above the treeline. Needless to say, I came up short. That really is my ball, buried into the face of that bunker. I got out, then 3 putted.
