Re: Should Golfers be Subject to a Written Test.

Given the application of the rules is in the greater majority of cases the cause for slow play, unless of course its the local football club out for their annual weekend slugfest and they are each carrying more beer cans than golf clubs, then maybe we just do away with the rules altogether and start a new golf more along the lines of Rollerball...

Unsure if I'd play, but could be fun to watch on telly!!!

Cheers

Re: Should Golfers be Subject to a Written Test.

Slow golfers, with higher handicaps, who do not know the rules, do serve one purpose. Think about it. If you were to not allow this people on your golf course, the revenue lost on most non private courses would cause an increase in green fees for those of us who play a quicker, better game. Too much of lost revenue, and the course conditions will deteriorate. Water, seed, fertilizer, gas, machinery maintenance, and labor add up to a sizeable cost for any golf course. I can afford to play just about anywhwere I want, and can get on a course. But, the idea that I should pay more just because I am more proficient at this game is not that appealing to me. Remove the slower, poorer player, and your green fees would most likely double, or possibly triple. GJS

Re: Should Golfers be Subject to a Written Test.

All private clubs should have a minimum handicap limit for visitors, simple as that, no one should be allowed to share clubs and courses should have rangers that keep an eye on the speed of play, you cant seriously tell me a course that charges 60 or 80 bucks per visitor per round cant afford 20 bucks an hour for a couple of rangers on buggies....

4 and a half hours is tons of time for a game of golf.
