What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls etc

Just wondering which equiptment you guys rank as being the best on the market at the moment..
Heres my review:
Driver:Taylormade R7
Irons: Taylormade RacLt
Lob Wedges: Cleaveland
Ball: ProV1
Putter: hard too decide as its an idividual prefrence, for me its the Ping tess putter.. very simple blade design with a soft rubber feel.

Re: What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls etc

First, I'd like to say that the best equipment is that which is custom fitted to you. That said,

Driver: Any Wishon head with GRT. No roll makes for a consistent shot height - no matter where you hit it on the face.

Irons: Depends on the golfer. Average players, I'd suggest Wishon 770CFE irons. Hot faced. Coupled with Wishon 321 Hybrids - hot faced again. For the ladies, Wishon has some 785 hybrid irons, specifically optimized for those that swing less than 80 MPH.

Wedges: SMT Durometer, bar none. With a sole that's custom grindable, a CNC milled face that puts tour junk on all shots (including half shots), this wedge can't be beat.

Putter: Any adjustable weight putter. It makes dialing in your preferred weight that much easier.

Ball: Anything but distance balls. You just can't hold a green with a distance ball.

I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.

Re: What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls etc

Driver: R7 or Titliest 905
Irons: Anything made by mizuno for all levels of golfer but best is probably the mp-33
Wedge: Again same as irons: Mizuno. However the best to get spin on are diamond faced wedges made by pure spin (even though they scratch the ball)
Putter: Oddyssy 3 Ball
Ball: Pro V1 yet it changes for different people

Ding, Ding, Ding!

I went to the demo day last Saturday and tried everything I could hit. There was some nice stuff but nothing hit any better or more controlling then the clubs I had built for me last year!

The new R7 was very nice but considering I can have 2 of my drivers built for one new R7 I think I'll save the $.

Re: What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls e

Golf's best little secret........KZG !

If I hadn't have already purchased mu TM Rac OS irons , KZG ZO forged irons would be in my bag.Next year for SURE !!

AS for balls ... I recently purchased the Nike Power Distance 'Power Soft' & they are quite good. I don't swing as fast as Tiger so this low compression (65) ball FLIES of my clubface ! The Pro V1 & HX Tour are great balls for the fastest swingers but I don't swing fast enough to utilize it's technology properly so I go with lower compression balls. They're also $25 cheaper !

Custom fitted is the way to go (but I'm not sure I'm as big a fan of Wishon and SMT as LowPost42, although to be fair I don't think that anyone is as big a fan as Ben). Special importance going to the shafts being correct.

[Shameless plug]If you're interested in how shafts can affect your game, have a look in the articles section for a remarkably well balanced and erudite discussion of this [end Shameless plug]

Also, it depends on your standard. I'd offer 2 different sets depending on standard.

Better player set
Driver and Woods:TaylorMade R7 TP
Hybrids: TaylorMade Rescue Dual TP
Irons: Mizuno MP-32 or Titleist 695MB
Wedges: Titleist Vokey spin milled or Mizuno
Putter: Yes! Callie
Ball: Titleist ProV1x

Improvement set
Driver and Woods:TaylorMade R5
Hybrids: TaylorMade Rescue Dual or Callaway Heavenwood
Irons: Mizuno MX-23 or Callaway Big Bertha
Wedges: SMT or Ben Ross
Putter: Odyssey 2 ball mallet
Ball: Nike Power Distance or Srixon AD 333

Re: What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls e

hi
i would love to try a fitted set of ping rapture clubs.
driver and hibrids and a set of there new irons.

why is it the ping pros use the g5 and g2 most and lee westwood uses zings and not there blade irons, thought blade's were better for pros than cavity back clubs.
i love my broomhandle ping c10 g2i putter and would not change that, my putting is good with this club and before it was bad.
i also would keep my 3 stm durometer wedges as thay are great, thanks to lowpost for telling me about them.

What about Callaway's new Square driver. It's not out yet but the spec of it looks ace. It'll be very forgiving off the tee. Really I'm not sure there's a hole lot of difference between any club. the important thangs are that your confident playing with them and they'er custom fit.

I saw the review in Today's Golfer Magazine of Callaways FT-i driver and I'm not sure.

I think that MOI is oversold as the 'Elixer of Straight Driving'. Nothing beats the fundamentals and hitting the ball with a square club face.

The desire to have the latest and greatest product drives the market and I think that Callaway is responding to the newer drivers: Sasquatch from Nike, HiBore from Cleveland, Rapture from Ping.

Thumbs up Re: What do you think are the best equiptment at the moment.. Drivers, irons, balls etc

Well for a high handicaper who just started back to golf after a 5 year lay off I have to say Callaway Big Bertha irons never hit more consistant shots ever and just got a Taylor Made R7 HT Driver and added 30 to 50 yards and always in the fairway now. I have hit 2 rounds under 90 and I never broke 100 before this purchase in July. So 3 months with that i shaved off 20 stokes.....

Bloodred, I daresay you're spot on. My motto is 'no matter what it is, I can slice it'.

I think that the high-MOI, square headed drivers (uh, whatever happened to 'plain in shape, the normal shape of a club'?) will perform in the arena of wood heads much like deep cavity back irons do in the iron arena - much harder to work, though not impossible.
