| New Taylormade R7...460 I have a serious question here............... The new R7 460 has two movable weight ports.............one either side. Try to keep up now.....16 grams of weight 2 Weights............................one 14 gram on the heel, one 2 gram on the toe..............................Promotes a draw. According to Taylormade set the weights this way 14grams toe and 2 gram heel is a straight shot. This is easy the club head must be naturally off centre weight wise.............................still keeping up. My question if you put two 8 gram weights one each side........what flight should this create.......??????? Ian. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 Well, if 14h2t creates a draw, then 8h8t should be a straight shot. However, if 14h2t creates straight, then I'd say 8h8t would be a fade, with 2h14t would be a slice. Assuming, of course, that 14g even makes enough of a distance to actually change playability ballflight. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 Taylormade say 14 toe 2 heel creates straight 14 heel 2 toe creates draw I thought if you have an empty club then it's now neutral heel weighted = draw..........toe weighted = fade so 8 + 8 would be straight........ Not so according to Taylormade, the above is their settings. I just have two 8s from my Taylormade 3 wood TP and wondered what the flight would be if I put them in, the TP 3 wood has a 14 and 2 also for draw or fade or 8s for neutral, the r7 460 must be weighted different. I think 2 8s would be a soft draw according to Taylormades settings, just wondered if everyone else agreed??? Ian.

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 Adding weights to clubs has been going on for years, pros used to add lead tape to the heel to help hitting a draw or higher on the back to lower the flight on wet fairways so it definatley works. The problem lies in Taylormade making to different statements on their web page. If you have weight on the toe you promote a slice for sure and vic versa on the heel. So they claim sold with the 3 wood TP you get 2 x 8 grams for a neutral flight and the 14 & 2 for the other two flights. Yet the R7 460 has only the 14 & 2, so now they claim with this club 14 toe and 2 heel is for a neutral flight and 14 heel and 2 toe is a draw. I am going to ask what happens if I put my two 8s in the ports......what flight will I get.........????????? Ian.

According to them you will get a draw, but less than the 14 heel-2 toe combination. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 Thanks, Now thats what I thought, I like the 460 vesion so I bought it on Wednesday, I have two 8s spare so I put them in for a slight draw bias instead of the full draw which I will move my feet to achieve. Just could not get my head around 14 toe being straight. With no weights in at all it must be unevenly weighted. Ian. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 Yes slight draw, Take a look at the earlier posts: According to Taylormade quote: Standard off shelf 14G heel 2G Toe = Draw 2G heel 14G Toe = Straight I have put in two 8Gs = Slight Draw bias Take weights out and head is heel bias hence no fade setting other than 16G toe heel empty..................not advisable. Strange but true. Ian. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 I just picked up the R7 425 and will use it Monday. It's set for neutral now so I'll get a base feel from it and try a little adjusting from there. The exterior weighting alone should save some off center hits. Looking forward to the test. I hit it pretty good at the practice area. I'll update. |

| Re: New Taylormade R7...460 I think that this is an issue between TP and non-TP versions. With TP versions, the natural weighting on the club is neutral. With non-TP versions, the weighting is baised toward the heel, so it's a draw biased. So in TP versions, neutral is 8/8 while in non-TP versions, neutral is 2/14. As most poeple slice it's a smart thing to do. I have 2 TaylorMade hybrids and spent a fair bit of time playing with the weight ports. The weighting effect is less a "gear effect" on impact (like a cue striking the cue ball in pool as mentioned by Started2k3) but more an issue of how easy the club is to rotate (and therefore close). With more weight in the heel, the centre of gravity is nearer and the club will close easier.
