Which putter should I get?

I am currently choosing a new driver and maybe a new putter eventually. For the driver go and try quite a few and see which one gives the most confidence and u hit the best. i asked the GTO forum to recommend a few for me to try and I added those to my list of potential new drivers.

It sounds to me like a big headed driver with very good forgiveness is the one to look for, at least for now until in a few years when ur naturally bigger, stronger with a better golf swing. I've heard some really good things about the Callaway FT-i and Nike Sumo squared, but go and demo a few at ur local driving range.

For putters, its all about personal preference! Whether the putter is 2nd hand, 30 years old or brand new doesn't matter. Go and demo everything, you'll find something that just feels right!

Currently, the most forgiving head that still sounds good is the Wishon 919THI. It still looks like a regular clubhead (well, ok, it's a little deeper face to back - but it's not square!)

It provides execellent ball speed on mishits.

Find a wishon guy in your area (Tom Wishon Golf Technology) and get him to put one together for you.

I agree with the many posts that state, "there is no perfect club."

I have two drivers. I have the Adams Redline 400cc Tour Driver 10.5 and I have a Adams Redline RPM 430Q Driver 10.5. The 400cc Driver is my favorite and it does not incorporate the adjustable weight technology of the 430Q Driver. I hit both Drivers long (300+), but the 430Q is more errant.

Now, the 430Q is 2 inches shorter and has a regular flex, "non-pured" shaft. My 400cc Tour Driver has a stiff flex and the shaft has been "pured."

My point is this, you really have to find the perfect shaft/head combination that fits your swing. If you go out and buy the most up to date driver and get it with a shaft flex that does not fit your swing speed, then you have wasted your money. If you are not going to have your clubs custom fitted, at least find out which shaft flex is going to work for your swing speed.

One of the regular golfers that I play with just bought a Nike Sumo Driver and got a great deal! I was extremely happy for him. The problem is that he got the club with a 13 degree loft to it and it was Senior flex. We get up to the tee and he watches me hit the **** out of my drive (300+) and then when he gets up to hit his drive, he swings way too hard and his driver head is still back above his knees while his hands are already through to the ball. Senior flex doesn't work with his swing speed unless he slows his swing speed down. He should have at least gotten regular flex for his (85-95mph swing speed).

My swing speed is around 110-120mph and if I tried to hit his Sumo Driver w/Senior flex, the club head would practically be just clearing my shoulder area while my hands are at the impact zone.

The putter is another vulcan mind-meld all together. There are all different kinds, but none of them are exactly perfect. Visual alignment is big thing on today's putters. The problem is that I putt just as good with a 2 ball putter as I do with my Ping WRX Ti-2 putter. Did I mention, though, that my Ping putter has nothing for visual alignment (no sight line, no alignment dot, no BALLS!).
