Great Plugged lie bunker shot tip...

I learned today that when the ball is plugged in the bunker...you need to have the majority of your weight on your left side. This will set you up to descend on the ball and make a steeper swing which will help you dig the more sand (and hopefully the ball) out of there!

it's amazing how learning the right tehcnique adjustments can change everything in a FLASH! Anybody else have good advice that works on bunker play? Thanks!

Re: Great Plugged lie bunker shot tip...

For this shot one also needs to close the club face and aim for the largest part of the green.

Re: Great Plugged lie bunker shot tip...

For me not only do I close the clubface, I literally hood it, big time. This is especially good when the ball is completely covered in sand. I take a square stance, hood the clubface and swing hard aiming just behind the covered ball. The ball pops out and has a lot of run on it. If the pin is close, just be thankful you got the ball out. It works everytime with this technique. You can also use different clubs. I have used everything from an L wedge to an approach wedge. All depends on how much run I want on the shot. Hope this helps

She's very good. Closing the clubface and aiming right is great for deep plugged balls

Re: Great Plugged lie bunker shot tip...

lots of soft sand = treat as uphill lie => more weight back foot
hard sand = treats a downhill lie => more weight on front foot
