Low hook out of the junk into the wind

I can't get dainty when I'm sidehill, ball above feet in some heavy rough like we have out here in San Francisco, and I've got to advance the ball against the wind with a low hooking/power draw flight. Holding the club Vardon style is doable of course in this situation--and I think there is consensus that standing tall is good in such situations -- but I often find a 'regular' swing can dig the club into the ground even if you choke up. And I think the prospect of doing that makes me tense up some. I've found more consistency employing a 10-finger grip and keeping my left arm straighter than normal during my backswing. I suspect holding the club that way makes the club sole flatten out in nicer harmony with the sidehill. Then I go back to Vardon for all normal situations. I hear all this "one grip" stuff but even those people putt overlap.

I'm not the greatest player (11) but I'm finding this shot coming in handy from SW up to hybrid in tough spots when you need distance control over absolute accuracy.
