So jealous! I'd far rather be doing this than what I am doing.

Knock yourselves out guys - we look forward to hearing how you get on

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

well guys the 1st GTO uk golf day has come and gone!
i think i speak for all the guys when i say the day was an overwhelming success!
i met up with keithmufc and markc at the bulls head after a near 4 hour trip down from manchester(bloody music festivals) and we had a good natter while downing a couple of beers

up bright and early sat morning the heavy overnight rain had stopped to leave us with a mild, dry yet windy morning

one by one everyone arrived and after a hurried breakfast we headed off to the 1st tee because we were running late,it affected my pre round regime(only manged 1 ciggie instead of the normal 3)

teamed up mark, keith and 3skills pro kevin so as the highest capper stated i should tee off last, it backfired on me a little as first kevin hit a mahoosive drive that i would have needed binoculars to sight!
next keith hit a solid long drive followed by another good un from mark so no pressurefor me then
thankfully i hit a decent shot that just stayed out of the bunker.
to cut a very long story short really enjoyed the round and my playing partners company. only thing to marr the round was keith having to pull out after 4 holes with a back injury made worse by the fact that he had been playing superbly!
the weather held off just long enough for us all to get in the clubhouse where we had lunch and then greg held the presentations, well done to qassim for winning with 32pts playing off 17.
kevin then gave a presentation on the 3skillsgolf tuition i was impressed enough to buy the "nail it" book!
we headed off to the range where kevin and graham gave some impromptu instruction and kevin treated us to some trickshots(the guy is a freak as he can drive the ball well over 200 yds while on his knees!)
we then held the longest drive where there were some really well hit drives from everyone and some not so good one which meant a bit of good natured sledging!
all in all a cracking weekend, thanks greg for pulling it together.it was a real pleasure to meet you all and look forward to the next one!

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

Good to hear y'all had a great day - well apart from Keith I suppose - and well done quassim; nice to see a higher cap representing us others so well

Would be interested in hearing more about 3skills & nailit Ian; Hersham Village is local to me and at least two of the absolute nightmares that I've reported on here have occurred there , if you find it useful I might invest myself or even mosey along for a lesson or two.

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

Ye it was a great day, was gutted I missed out on some great holes never the less, weather held out and very good company made up for the injury.
Slats you forgot to mention my 1st hole birdy
With me not taking any part from the 5th hole onwards I managed to talk to Kev in detail about this 3skills nail it book and its theory. I can genuinely tell you I saw it work 1st hand on Slats and Mark after he told them of his theory there was a huge improvement on their ball striking.
I was so impressed I bought the book and have promised kev to let him know if my game improves.
I am really looking forward to next years and hope that we can arrange other days were we can visit each others local courses.
PS Try for a Lynx course next year
Cheers to all
Keith
Laid flat on my back using my daughters laptop the journey home has probably laid me up for a good few days

hi robin
no bullshit mate it works!
just approach it with an open mind!
even though i was pretty knackered after one too many last night i dropped the bags off at home and then headed for the range.
had the instruction yesterday and ive read a couple of pages of "nail it" without a word of a lie ive never hit the ball so well
i would love to be local to hersham to go for one to one so i would say give it a go mate!

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

Hi guys,

The golf day was a great experience. To meet some of our members and to put a person to the posts was such a pleasure. Everyone got on so well and felt among friends from the get-go.

Apart from the late breakfast and the uptight course marshall, the experience at the course was brilliant.

Thanks Greg for all the arranging!

See everyone next year and let's hope we have a lot more members next time around.

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

I can only echo the previous posts.

Great course, great company and some great insights into ball striking from Kevin of 3skills.

Thoroughly enjoyed the day, as Graham (TeachingPro) said everybody got on really well - it was hard to believe it was the first time we'd met.

Not even the ridiculously early start, slightly dodgy weather and a bit of a 'jobsworth' marshall could spoil the day!

Thanks to Greg for organising the event; can't wait for the next one (I think we should have them more often than once a year). Let's hope we can get more people to come along.

Kevin, I'm off to the range to practice hitting the ball off my knees - we'll have a competition the next time we meet!

PS . Where can I get hold of a copy the book ?

Re: The GTO Open Golf Day (UK Summer 2007 Tour)

Great to read - well done all! Any chance of some sort of leaderboard?

Slats - in particular, apols; the reason you were held up was in part due to me; I was in the traffic on the way to the V festival.

Lessons learned this weekend;

1) There is no such thing as a waterproof tent - even one just 'waterproofed' before leaving.
2) 'Shortcuts' through enormous campsites are a bad idea at 1 in the morning carrying duvets in a torrential rainstorm.
3) If the girlfriend suggests being at the front for 11 hours from when the barriers open in order to be bang at the front for headliners Foo Fighters, it is worth reminding her that that will include 1.5 hours of Kaye West and 30 minutes of the Proclaimers
4) Even being at the back of the 200 person bunfight, and being 3.3 years old (the decimal point makes me feel better), only 10 'young uns' are fast enough to beat me to the barrier from 500 metres, though the often don't anticipate my 'dirty tricks' campaign on the way
5) Don't mention the words 'new clubs' to girlfriend when she is still holding a grudge for being lost in the wrong campsite for 1.5 hours in torrential rain whilst carrying duvets

You'll notice that nothing I learnt this weekend had anything to do with golf

Count me in for the next one, guys!
