Tiger Woods, Steve Stricker and Jerry Kelly were among the players who got a sneak peek at Carnoustie on Sunday, and most liked the wider fairways and more forgiving rough. David Frost, however, thinks the set-up might be too easy.

Tiger Woods sets out on his quest for a third successive Open title at 9.09am on Thursday morning with Justin Rose and past champion Paul Lawrie.

Should be a great one to watch guy's...

Re: The Open Championship

The normal philosophy with British majors is to prepare the course much as normal and let nature do what it can. I agree with this, everyone plays the course as it is on the day and take your chance on what mother nature throws at you. Double freakies???

Re: The Open Championship

Looks like Steve Stricker has benefitted greatly from his pre-Open sneak peak at Carnoustie.

I think he and Sergio are going to square off for the claret jug, but in honesty I think Sergio will finally make his mark on top golf (besides spitting in the cup, that is)

Re: The Open Championship

What an exciting days golf... unlucky Sergio, but your time will come and hopefully soon. You are still a GTO favourite

Hats off to Padraig, he showed extreme courage to pull off that win especially with his finish in conventional play. The way he carried himself throughout was impeccable and a credit to the sport. It was great to see such emotion after winning, something that we do not get to see that often from our sporting heroes these days...

... and what about young Rory McIlroy, only 18 years of age and claiming the amateur winners spot... he is definitely one to watch in the coming years.

Again, well done Padraig from all here at GTO

I noticed you picked him as a favorite. Hope you laid a few pounds on him. Rory looks like the real deal.

Re: The Open Championship

hi
great climax to the final day and was so close with any of three player able to win, in the end it was so had to pick the better player from Padraid and Sergio, you could not help feel for sergio for the way he had played all week and the real winer was the wonderful course and the last 4 holes that made it such an exciting finish.
