Your hands are beating your body to the ball. Get your hips and shoulders around as much as you can before impact of the hands at the ball. This will fix the hooks.

Greg,
Thanks, apologies for not acknowledging earlier but I've just returned from my Vacation, I noticed that I have allowed my right hand to slip under the club shaft, I now have it in a more neutral position (i.e 1.5 knuckles on the r/h showing, V towards chin/shoulder) and I seem to be back on tack. A quick question if I may, I tried swinging with my butt not far from a fence but I seem to be rolling the left wrist on the take-away, causing the club the smash against the fence, tried the same drill but placing a club head cover against the club and sweeping this away but I still roll the wrist, any tips or ideas?

Probably hitting them all left because you are swinging around yourself a lot, i.e very flat.
Try swinging with the ball below your feet a few times to encourage a more upright swing. When the club is "set" at the top of the backswing you should be able to loosen your grip and the shaft of the club should fall somewhere between your head and your shoulder

Concentrate on making a one-piece takeaway as your pulling the club way to far to the inside on the backswing.
