It appears you are trying to fix this by bringing the club further behind than otherwise. Since the club can't go any farther back, as soon as you turn the shoulders, you bring the club back in front. As you continue to turn the shoulders, you bring the club down. Shoulders then arms, front then down.

Instead, bring it up while simultaneously making a full shoulder turn and tucking the right elbow in. On the downswing, do the same motion in reverse. Arms down followed by the shoulders. Arms then shoulders, down then front.

In other words, keep the club in front of the shoulders. As you keep the club in front of the shoulders, it will allow you to make a wider arc thus producing more power as well.

If you have trouble with consistency, visualize the clubhead's path in the air around you as you swing. At the top of the backswing, you should be in control of the club to put it in proper position. This position at the top is critical for a proper downswing. We call this the slot. Find the slot, position the club properly, begin the downswing with the intent on making a smooth arc towards and through the ball.

Ultimately, doubt is
what makes us fail.
If we doubt that,
let us take a moment
and consider the irony.
