| The shoulders turn 90 degrees while the hips turn 45 degrees. Its a turn not a sway although the weight does shift on the backswing to the right leg as it becomes a flexed brace. The left shoulder is over the instep of the right foot at the top of the backswing, then, the hips initiate the downswing by moving laterally to the left which brings the shoulders, arms and hands into position to impact the ball. Sounds complicated but it all happens in 0.3 sec. Hope this helps and doesn't scare you. A good book for beginners is The encyclopedia of Golf as it covers alot of subjects and is sound in fundamentals and easy reading. |
