waterproof clothing

now that winter is amongst us , i am wondering what type of waterproof clothing you all use.
i have taken to wearing lightwieght hiking overtrousers and jacket, both gortex & 100% waterproof. i found that the so called waterproof golfing gear usually leaks.what is your experience on this .

I use Ping waterproofs (Do you like that Bill) currently but i'm going to purchase a Galvin Green suit very soon.

ProQuip all the way. Dry as a Nuns privates.

i have a Ping waterproof top and Dunlop waterproof bottoms. there are some really good waterproof clothing out there now, comfortable and light and warm too. i have played in some really bad weather and never had a problem with my waterproof. you have to watch as some are only shower proof and heavy rain does soak in, if its rainware it should not leak.
(shows you have good taste Davie, have you found it water tight.)
Gavin Green and Sunderland both look like good gear.

I find waterproof golf clothing a bit of a paradox. I have tried a number of types but get just as wet inside through perspiration as if I didn't wear them, I am more comfortable with hat, a light shower top and lightweight trousers and an umbrella. I think I need to purchase a good quality gortex rain suit like Calvin Green make.

I've never had any problems with the trousers but the top has started to let a small quantity of water through in recent months, i've had the suit 4 years and have worn it loads of times and has been washed dozens. So I have no complaints, only paid £55 for it aswell.

Gloves are most important. I have some winter gloves and some rain gloves. I really want some rain gear but the stuff I want is too expensive. So I just wear whatever I have that is most waterproof and get soaked to the bone and get very cold. Good times.

I have an awesome set of Abacus raingear. It's warm, dry and doesn't really restrict your movement.

It also has a very clever pocket layout, leaving you plenty of places to put all the knick-knack that we tend to lug around.

just purchased a proquip neptune II suit for nearly half price off Ebay.
wore it yeaterday and impressed with it, i stayed warm and dry and it didnt restrict my movement

I use ProQuip. Doesn't leak and doesn't get wet inside due to persperation. My mate has entered the London Marathon and all applicants get a shower proof running top. He is using that! And, he loves it.

i take it all back!
played a 5 hour round yesterday in which it was raining most of the time.
got back to the clubhouse and i was soaked to the skin

I don't play in the rain .

What do you think Slats, did it leak or was it poor breathability?

ive emailed the seller asking for a refund and been out and bought a galvin green gore-tex jacket and sundrland gore-tex trousers

I am seriously considering Calvin green as I think Gortex is the best material for waterproofing and breathability, it tends to have a lifetime waterproof guarantee as well. Let me know how you get on with it?

What I do find a bit of a rip off is that when the word "Golf" gets associated with clothing a large markup is added. A similar outdoor walking coat using the same materials can be around £100 cheaper in some cases.
