I have a question for anyone that has found a way to find the equator (sweet spot) of a golf ball without buying someones product. That is has anyone come up with a home remedy for making a ball float like some of these companies that advertise sweet spot finding gadgets.

Re: chief301 There's the epsom salt method as outlined by Dave Pelz. I've been using it for a couple years. There's also a video done by Ralph Maltby talking about the epsom salt method and how to tell the great balls from the not-so-great ones.

Thanks guys. I've been with fire investigators and insurance people today because of a motel fire we had in our town on New Years night. What a way to start the new year. I need a doctor to give me a script for 18 holes a day for the next 6 weeks in temps no less than 80 degrees. Wind chill the other night was minus 17. I here the Caymens calling my name.

Re: chief301 Another thought is to test hit balls to see which one is best for your swing, then the equator won't be so important as getting the max distance your swing provides. I think I saw a thread on The Golf Channel site written by Frank Thomas that rates golf balls by skill level. Play well!

Re: chief301 FWIW, I wouldn't trust half of what Frank Thomas says - but that's another kettle to boil. leftalone has it pretty much right - finding a ball that complements your game is key. After you determine that ball, it's time to give 'em a salt bath so that they track better.
