Neat Little Trick to use on the course

The next time you are behind a tree or bush (happens more to me than I would like!) and wondering which club you should grab to make it over the top, I have a cool trick.

Take a club out of your bag and step on the face of the club with the shaft pointed towards the tree. The angle of the shaft will be approximately the angle the ball will fly on, all things being equal.

Line up and hope for the best!!!

I was told this trick just last Saturday and it seems to work for me.

Unless you flip the club through impact - in which case your dynamic loft could be much higher.

Don't normally lob a ball over a tree or bush with a wood?

You simply trust that the trajectory will carry it under the branches.

Though if trees are 90% air how come I always hit the 10% wood - I'm not that accurate normally.

It's one of the "Real Rules of Golf": When there are 10 acres of fairway to aim at the ball will be more attracted to a 2 inch twig.

14-2a: The law of equal proportion

The probability of missing a 2 acre fairway or hitting a 2 inch branch are 1:1
