New Irons

I have decided to purchase some new Irons this year. In the past I have always been a Taylor Made Golfer (TM OS Irons). I have tried a number of different clubs and I am leaning toward the Adams Idea A3. I was wondering if anyone could give me some feedback on these. Also I have always been fitted for my irons. I went to Edwin Watts to get fitted and was told that I needed a 1/2 longer length in my shafts. Go figure.
Thanks for any input

Re: New Irons

I recommend you go here -> http://www.danscustomgolfshop.com/registry.html

And find the closest clubfitter to you.

For the same money as off-the-rack A3's, you can get fit properly AND get new irons that fit you absolutely perfectly.

Re: New Irons

I have a couple of friends who play the Adam's A3s with graphite shafts. They love them to death. I have used their clubs when playing with them. Good quality club as far as I could tell. Toe, heel, and center club face hits all went pretty straight, which is the way I test irons for forgiveness. I believe the A3s have a pretty high MOI rating.

I'd suggest you have one or two irons built to your fitted specs, and give them a try on the golf course. If they don't work well, then you are only out the costs of one, or two clubs. Club fitters/makers who offer a money back policy are very few, and far between.

On that note. You might want to give one of the Golfsmith stores a call. They can help with fitting you. Just be sure to let them know exactly what you want, and don't be afraid to ask alot of questions. They also offer a 90/90 pay and play plan. What this means is that prior to 90 days after the purchase, if your clubs do not work out for you the way you think they should, they will credit you up to 90% of your purchase price. It is not refund, just a credit to your account. I tried this with a driver I purchased from them. As it turned out, after a another fitting, it was just a visual alignment problem for me. They adjusted the shaft (for free) to suit my needs, and I have had no problems since. That being said I know they have given full refunds to disgruntled clients in the past.

Another avenue available for fitting is GolfTec, and they are associated with some of the Golfsmith stores. A bit pricey, but I have used them in the past, and felt comfortable with their service. Being able to bring up my previous visits on my own computer is a big plus for me when I want to review my swing. GJS

Re: New Irons

The 3,4 & 5 hybrid clubs come with a Grafoly Prolaunch red 80G graphite shaft. For the 6 - PW I will have the True Tempered Dynamic Gold S300 Steel Shaft.
