Cool Taylor made R7 Draw driver

With great excitement I purchased the above mentioned club and had a few rounds with it, I was left gutted when I failed to draw the ball also I was hitting my old Wilson driver 30 yds further, so I still have the slice & the fade but what worries me is that 28 handicappers were hitting there drives further than me and I am a 12 handicapper. So to all golfers out there do not be taken in by all the bullsh.t the manufacturers tell you and try and get a trail period with the clubs you want to buy.

That's correct. A draw biased club will not turn a slice into a draw, at best it will assist a straight shot to draw a little or a hook to get worse.

Cool Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

You are right Brian but the frustrating thing for me is I have the short game of a single figure handicapper.

Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

hi
Brian's right about the draw driver not helping someone fading but do you set up with the club face closed. with some draw set drivers the face looked very closed when you set up and you tend to open the face a bit so it looks square. you need to set up with the face closed to use a draw set driver even if you play a fade like me, with my driver it almost aims at the left edge of the rough 250 yards down the fairway and i stand open another 10%, if i set up with the driver face looking to where i want the ball to go i hit a big slice.
don't know if you could be doing that but that would cut the distance too. i also set the club in so the ball it about 1/4 of an inch more to the toe than setting up with ball over the sweet spot.
hope its something you can around like i have.
best of luck
bill

Cool Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

Hola guys its me again thinking about my swing with the driver is that I have lazy hands and fail to turn them over at contact with the ball which leaves the face open, also I come over the top with the right shoulder trying to hit the ball instead of just letting the club drop down and swinging throu the ball.So what I do is I aim left and the ball normally hits the fairway but into the wind and would better hitting the ball with my putter.

hi brian
aiming left is one of the worst things you can do to fight a slice!
go see a pro to sort out the problem!

Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

I had the R7 draw bias for a while.

****. No spring off the clubface.

Sorry. You could have done with that knowledge a little earlier, I know!

Cool Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

Cheers Neil but your are 2 months to late with your info lol. but 100% correct with your statement. That surprised me because Taylor made have a good reputation with drivers, one of my friends has the more expensive R7 and the balls go along way further than the R7 Draw.

hola brian
i got the superquad, f**kin brilliant!
im the opposite of you, i match most of the lower cappers for drive distance but until now had a shabby short game.
working overtime on the short stuff should see me drop my cap this year.

can you post a swing video of you hitting driver?

Cool Re: Taylor made R7 Draw driver

Was playing on wed in the captains day I had gave my R7 driver to one of my texas scramble team with a view to him buying it of me. On reaching hole number eight I asked to borrow it as I had the 4 inch tees for my Acer clone driver and you can guess what happened I hit the ball straight up the middle ( MORE DISTANCE ) with a hint of a draw over the course of the round I hit another three shots with it with reasonable affect so it looks like I may keep this driver after all, so what do you guys think is it because of the higher tees or was it just a bit of luck previously I used the grey castle tees.
