Shoulders at impact

Watch this clip and stop it at impact, note the position of the shoulders.

You mean square to slightly open?

NO mate,

I videoed myself last week on my usual cheap £20 video camera from China via E-bay, so pretty poor, but you can put it on your PC and play it on pause click by click, luckily it stopped smack on impact, my shoulders were really square and you could see my left arm.

So I trolled through youtube under the heading (swing vision) to have a look, my swing is pretty flat so Hogan or Aaron Baddley is probably as close as I can get to mine, I was amazed to see Hogan in this clip nearly closed shoulders.

On all my old clips my shoulders are open and you cannot see my left arm, I have always hit straight or just a slight fade, now I hit a slight draw after using 3Sks.

Thats it really, just an observation of my swing changes, I just wondered if anyone else realizes that your shoulders are ment to be square or even slightly closed.

Judging by my ball flight I'm not sure I always manage it though.

I have always considered the ball will set off in the direction of your shoulders. I see many people set the club, their feet and hips square but have their shoulders open or closed.

It's a good observation to make.

Despite him swinging a bit flatter than most (he was a shorty!), through impact his right shoulder is working under his left. He still hit "out from under" even though his plane was flatish. It keeps his shoulders square through impact as long as possible to maximise the chance of him starting the ball out on the intended line of flight.

Some once posted here, "The shoulders are the rudder". A good thought to keep in mind.
