| first post...cutting across ball hi guys, firstly im a 6handicap in the uk. my backswing is quite good, not great but not bad. there is no early inside takeaway, the takeaway is actually good. the problem is, is that i cant seem to start the downswing with my lower body no matter how hard i try! so at impact i am swinging quite left so i can actually see my cutting across the ball. any tips will be great and ill have a video up in a few hours. thanks |

| Re: first post...cutting across ball Hi medici999 I am also off a six handicap in Australia. A drill i do when my arms take over and my hips do not work in sync is a drill i watched Butch Harmon demonstrate. The idea is once you get to the top of your backswing actually stop and hold (Butch says this is also an ideal chance to check if clubhead etc is in the right spot). When you start your downswing just turn your hips do not bring your upper body into play at all. You must have patience on this drill i guarantee if you have not been using your hips properly you will hit some shockers for at least the first fifteen minutes (you will guts it and it will barely leave the ground) if you have the patience i guarantee you will be able to rip it at full speed and the ball will at least travel three quarters of the distance you normally would within 45 minutes. I always use a six or seven iron when doing this drill. try it let me know how you go. |
