Ping Karsten Series

Just saw an advert for these in the latest golf monthly. Anyone tried one yet? Im on the lookout for a new putter and thinking of trying one! They seem cheap for a ping putter at £60.

Re: Ping Karsten Series

hi
it has the Anser and Anser II putter and that putter has more wins on tour than any other putter, there are 7 putters in the Karsten series and have been updated with insets to give better feel than the old Anser putter.
i think the that the Anser is still one of the most widely used putters in the world.
cheers
bill

Re: Ping Karsten Series

And, I have recently switched from an Anser to a Karsten C67 and I am loving it.

I have been a Ping fan for some time now...

Re: Ping Karsten Series

hi
i have been playing Pings since 1974 and i would not want to play any other make of club as i just love the quality of there clubs and they have been leading the way in golf clubs since the first Ping putter that did Ping!!! to the great ping eye clubs that seem to help every ones game that tried them and the were the first maker with real cavity back to help the ball get in the air. something that almost ever other maker copied. the were the first to offer fitted clubs to the working man, before ping K1s no one offered fitted clubs and you had to have them made by a club maker or be a pro golfer.
i love the big headed zing irons and i find i can shape a fade with then easily.
yes you could say i was a big fan.
cheers
bill

Re: Ping Karsten Series

I picked up an older ping zing putter about 2 yrs ago at a garage sale for $5.00, it was tarnished, torn grip, but I soaked in vinegar for a little while and whew! cleaned up very nice, put on a new grip and that is my confindent putter, I have a few but I always go back to this one.

Re: Ping Karsten Series

Went to see pro and ended up getting a ping anser 2 orange dot. Got a free putting lesson for about 45mins with the pro - well worth the extra £10 it cost compared to the guys at a certain large USA retail outlet in the uk! Do there sales staff actually play golf?

I said I needed a flatter lie angle to which they said "oh i dont know if ping do them - I'll have to ring and check if they do it for there putters!"

I swiftly walked out of the door.

Re: Ping Karsten Series

hi Prowlsta
yes the orange dot is 2 degrees flat and i think the Anser 2 sets up better to the ball then the Anser.
how did you find putting with it did you find it gave you more confidence.
cheers
bill

Re: Ping Karsten Series

I use a Ping G5i B60, it has just the right weight and feel for me. I purchased it on a trip to Chicago where it cost $110 which is half the price that my club pro shop charges.

Re: Ping Karsten Series

Yes - definitely felt more confident. They only had the orange dot in a 35 inch shaft and the black dot in 34 inch shaft in the pro shop so he's ordered in the 34inch orange dot which should be most suited to me. Amazing the confidence it gave me and it definitely changed my swing plane as well.

He put a bevelled block of wood down and with my current putter I kept trying to come outside the line and hitting the wood. With the 34 inch and the flatter lie I came nicely down the line/slightly inside and was sinking everything. Preferred the 34 inch for the longer putts as gave my arms more freedom to swing and they hung much straighter from my body.

Arrives on friday so depending on the practise green on Fri night it may go straight into medal play on Saturday!

Re: Ping Karsten Series

hi
i had to order my broomhandled C10 as no one stocked them but i was over the moon with it when it arrived 5 days later.
took me almost 10 minuets to unpack it there was so much packing around it.
best putter i have ever tried and i use to use and still have a 1972 Ping pal and i thought that was good but the c10 with the shaft going into the center of the putter is just great.
i think for a long time Ping putter were so far ahead of every other maker but i think some has started to catch Ping and Ping are no longer NO1 but are still very close to the best for putters in the world.
cheers
bill
