Which club would you miss most?

Having got my driver fixed (big thumbs up here to the Benross workshop for customer service) I was on the range on Sunday warming up for a round when with the last little pitch of the warm up the wedge snapped in two.

Ok, first tee got slightly out of position on the dogleg with no shot to the green chipped out and played a sand iron to the green, 2 putts and an ok bogey start.

Second tee, rescue club straight as an arrow to the green, 2 putts, par.

Third tee, first time for the driver, nailed it walked up smiling at the wonderful day to find I was at PW distance. Even a choked down 9I would run the risk of the crud at the back of the green so played a SI but instead of just leaving it short and chipping I leant on it and chunked it into a ditch walked off with a 7.

From then on I was constantly having to manufacture shots and failing.

On reflection I should have played everything short to say 8-9 distance but it so much easier to use your brain in hindsight and for once I was swinging the driver well so was reluctant to leave it in the bag. More fool me.

So back to the question, apart from the putter, if you had a club taken away on the walk to the first which would you least like to lose?

Re: Which club would you miss most?

You have to love 20-20 hindsight......

And, prompt Driver repairs for gorillas...

Now, to the question posed. Though, my favourite club is not the club I would miss most, (if that makes any sense) the club I would miss most would be my 4 iron.

It is my security blanket, the one club in the bag I KNOW I will hit well, every time...

Love my new Driver, love my new putter more, but...

My 4I is my go to club.

Cheers

Re: Which club would you miss most?

hi
would be my 5 iron as 5 of the holes on my course are a drive and a 5 iron to the green and two more are a 1 iron and a 5 to the green and two of the four short hole is a 5 iron to the green and one of the par 5s that i use a 5 irons on,
so i would use the 5 iron 10 time from my shot to the green.

if i was playing on a links course it would be my s/wedge.
cheers
bill

Re: Which club would you miss most?

I'd miss my SW the most. I miss a lot of greens, and I rely on my SW to get me close (I practice pretty much daily with one in the backyard).

Re: Which club would you miss most?

SW, I'm 95-105 out on a ton of par 4s and I use it for most of my chipping/pitching.

Re: Which club would you miss most?

My game is often based on the ability to recover from completely ****py drives. The go-to club is my trusty Deep Red 5wood.

Re: Which club would you miss most?

Thinking on with this one. If I never had my driver I could use my three wood and visa versa, I think that goes for just about every club in the bag, if you lost one then the two either side could be made to compromise. The one that I could not do without would be my putter.

Interesting you should just post that.
