| Re: BMW PGA - Old Jack hi bdbl i think you have a good point about spotters and the rough. i know from the 5 Opens i have been to the rough is mostly walked down by the crowd and not as hard to play from as it is most of the year. the fairways are made thiner and there is normally two cuts of off the fairway before you get to the deep stuff but they seem to fence the spectators in closer to the fairways than they use to back in the 70s. its only when on links like Carnoustie where its so hilly that the spectators are lined along the tops of the big sand dunes and not along the fairways that you get a good deep bit of rough and you see player really hacking to get out of it and it costing them shots. you also have the stands round the green that make it easer to focus on the flag. when the stands come down and you can see for miles behind the flag its harder to judge even with having the yardage. cheers bill
