Smile Fix for slice from the tee

Hi,

I am fairly new to the game (less than 2 years) and right now, my biggest frustration is my tee shot. Regardless of the club (driver, 3-wood, 5-wood) I slice almost always. The annoying part is that, most of my second shots (sometimes using the same club as from the tee box) I hit them straight. Any idea what may be the reason for that? I have recently reduced the length of my driver to 44.5 inches to see if it would help but I don't think so. Another thing is distance: why am I able to hit a hybrid 21 with steel shaft about 200-210 yards but my driver rarely goes beyond the 200 (in the few times I hit it straight).

Thanks,

Daniel

Re: Fix for slice from the tee

It could very well be that with your driver, you're not playing enough loft for your swing speed and/or angle of attack; causing massive distance loss.

As for losing your driver with a slice, you should try the motorcycle drill. Do a search here on GTO for motorcycle drill.

Re: Fix for slice from the tee

your could be trying to swing to hard on your drive and end up opening your club face try slowing down your swing and just making good contact with the ball then when u get that down u can increase your power.

Re: Fix for slice from the tee

You might want to check the ball position in your stance with regards to your slicing clubs off the tee, and those you hit straight off the turf. You might want to move the ball back in your stance with your "slicing" clubs off the tee. Different ball positions, if you are not careful, can cause a shoulder alignment problems. Another check is to see if there are any differences in the two shafts. Perhaps one fits your swing better than the other. GJS

Re: Fix for slice from the tee

You are probably overpowering your first tee shot and becoming disconnected (arms trailing your body) this is leaving the clubface open. On your second tee shot you are swinging easier with a better tempo.

Regarding power, take a look at this video, it may help.
