4th round singles match

what a bleedin drama

got to the club at 4.30 feeling knackered after a ***** of a day at work, had a quick warm up and headed for the 1st tee

met my opponent for the 1st time he offers me the tee on the 1st hole, f*ck! i knob it 50yds in front of me he hits the green i then sh*nk the next 4 shots before conceding the hole. 1 down

good drive and 6 iron to 15ft 2 putts on 2nd A/S

3 solid shots 2 putts i win the 3rd 1 up

i lose the next 4 holes with a display of nerve ridden dross!

half the 3rd with a great drive, 7 iron and 2 putts 3 down

on to our 'card wrecker' 9th, he hits his tee shot into the junk , ball is unplayable,i hit a 5 iron to 4 foot, he concedes without me having to putt 2 down

i chip in off the green to win the 10th 1 down

great drive, 7 iron and 2 putts wins the 11th A/S

i ht a 5 iron to 10ft he pulls his tee shot on to the 8th green, overdoes his next 2 shots, 2 putts for the win 1 up

solid 5 on 13 2 up

good up and down on 14 for a half

creamed a drive on 15 hit a solid lay up 1 pitch and 2 putts for the win 3 up 3 to play

miss an easy 6 footer on 16 to lose the hole 2up

no shots left now as we go to our 499yd par 5, i hit a good drive left of the fairway he hits one slightly longer but on the right side, as soon as i got to the ball and it was sat up i thought stuff it im going for it, i hit a 3 wood sweet as a nut it soared way over the gully landing 40yds short of the green, he now has to go for it and stuffs it straight in to the ****!

he takes 2 to get out and then chips way past the pin, i chipped to 6ft and then sunk the putt for a 2&1 win

phew it was a tough match and a long day

mine was the 1st name down in the last 8

I love a good come back! Well done son! Great brain power to win off the back of a hard day and 4 sh**ks!

By the way, if that's you in your avatar, you do know the fairway's behind you, don't you?

Slats hits it so hard, it travels about 280 yards short of going entirely around the world.

Nice win, sir - very nice indeed!

It's 3 Skills technique Ben not brute strength.

Well done Ian - the long march continues.

You guys are killing me with the 3 skills stuff.

I'm actually playing some very twatty golf lately. The closest I get to mechanics is to be very aware of how my address position feels, and to note where my divot is on my practice swing (so that I position the ball accordingly).

If it goes to pot, I'll likely be hunting up a 3skills book. At this point, I don't want to disturb what seems like a good thing.

Re: 4th round singles match

Err... The fairway isn't "behind" him...

It might be a tee marker, or perhaps an adjacent green or somesuch...

The fairway is to his right...........

OK, enough of that..........

Great win Slats....

Looking fwd to the last 8.....

Cheers
