in my opnion u have to judge the swing in time zones. now you would have to say tiger just for the power element but on the other hand in this era you could go for the big easy for effortless power. For years past you cant look past ben hogan and sam snead for the origanal perfect swing. If i had to say over the years a would have to go for tiger only just cause hes in my time zone.

In terms of "Swing" alone: is has to be Sam Sneed as the most beautiful swing that ever was. Payne Stewart is a very close second. Both have the astetics and tempo that we dream about.

My two favourites to watch are Colin Mongomerie and Ernie Els. I don't know if their swings are as technically as good as the others mentioned but they are just so smooth and effortless. How do they hit the ball so far with so little effort?

I'll cast my vote for Dr. Michael Austin. I've been studing his swing for a few years now. For the amount of energy the body can produce his is the most powerful swing I've seen.

Odd that this question can up today, I actually spoke to Dr. Austin today on the phone at his home in Califonia. He is 93 years old and still has a sharp mind. What a treat to ask him questions! A fact I found out that I had not seen written, he broke the 400 yard barrier in 1937! He said most people hit it pretty short in those days. He drove it over 2 groups in the fairway and on the green of a thrid group. Pretty amazing with clubs of that era.

Bigman,
I discovered a long time ago that you yourself have the perfect swing!!!
no one else can copy you!
no one can hit it like you!
no one swing is identical to yours!

MOST Important
You can not copy tigers or anyones either, so just perfect what works for you.

although Faldo does in my opinion have a good text book swing.

Smile

I am a 9 handicapper same as you so maybe you can look at my swing when its accepted.

You cannot copy anyone because we are all built different,

If you are going to copy Tiger then you need to be around six foot three and not eat spuds!!!!

If you are only five foot and a fag end then your swing will be alot flatter, maybe like Woosies.

I found that when I had the basics for a good swing I forgot about trying to swing like someone else and started swing like me. I was a twenty handicapper then.

Ian.

I like Tom Watson's swing. Though, it's fast it's well balanced. He must have done something right to win all the stuff he did .. still winning I think.
