downswing help

Should you start the downswing slowly? when should you start to accelerate through the ball really fast because i feel when i start down quickly i lose power threw impact and control.

Richie, you are probably starting the downswing with your upperbody, generally called hitting from the top. You'll be getting lots of slices and duffed shots.

Try leaving your hands in positition at the top of your backswing whilst turning your lower half, I start with the knees, towards and left of the target line.

starting the downswing

Richie,

Your downswing actually starts before your backswing is complete. Your arms should still be on their way up when the weight transfer is started. As Paul said, start you downswing with your lower body. Although I believe the downswing starts pushing off the the right foot, which moves your right knee towards the target and transfers your weight to your left foot (this is for righties, of course). This action leads to the turning your hips, torso and finally the release of your arms. If you post a video of your swing on this site there are a few people here who can analyse your swing properly other than by suspicion of what we THINK may be your problem.
