Yips, I could read about them a lot, but honestly, I am still not sure if understand ´em properly. I think, that they are like flashbacks from previous time, when we try to hit the ball different way. Especially players who begun with no real teacher or just somebody who knows how or can see how not. Anyway, better to never heard of, positive mind, positive mind...

Yips are normally related to putting, they are where you cannot hold the putter steady and it wobbles during the swing. Some think it is a neurological problem others think it is a lack of confidence.

Is this what you are referring to?

Hello Brian, thanks for your reply. Thats it, yips can be a neurological problem.Agree. Mostly tied with putting, but I still think, that many people do not even imagine, how dangerous it can be to work on their swing, not putting only.
You must see on some of your playing partners or yourself. How often become something into swing. For example when you expect to shot a fade and ball flying left, hooked like bananamaybe I speak about blocks, not yips. Only true is, that everything is connected.
Of course, everything is about drill and practice, but point is, if is good to explain to beginners, keep them worry and careful what they do.
I think, this is most important: try to keep new players out of any bad habit, because it will protect them from horrible drill in future. By this way you can stay away from many problems. I feel, that yips just can come with weak practice. If anybody, even very talented person will stay practice wrong way, will have extemely hard work to fixed.
Understand? My english is sometimes very stiff, hopefully my swing is bit better.

If you are struggling with the putting yips - I discovered a putting method in 2006 that has cured my yips and I have been able to help other golfers as well.

The key to my putting method is that I completely eliminate any movement in my (dominant hand & arm) during the putting stroke. I believe this technique "blocks" the neurological signals that would trigger my yips.

I even contacted Dr. Charles Adler from the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, AZ who is heading up the latest research on the yips. They just completed a series of studies and their findings will be released to the public later this year. I offered to test my putting method on the golfers they tested with the yips but Dr. Adler informed me the research they are involved with only focuses on the movement disorders with the yips - but they may do research on possible treatment techniques in the future.
