the dreaded slice

Hi all (a 1st timer from uk)
Im 37 and play off 12.
Ive had a slice since i was 14 ! and have played with it ever since without ever trying to solve the problem. On my good days i can aim out right and find the middle of the fairways no problem. But bad days (especially in the wind) im all over the place.
Im getting despondent now because all my rivals (including newbies) knock the ball miles past mine..(i go the long way round!).
i stand so so open its untrue (everyone is amazed!).But when i go to the range and close up,my ball starts right and slices almost behind me.
Is there hope out there????
woostoon.

Re: the dreaded slice

Have you tried seeing a pro? Spend the initial $$ now, and get the correct information. It really is that simple.

If $$ is the problem, then there are a ton of threads here that can get you started. Just search "Slice". If that does not help, then you need to get more spacific about your grip, swingplane and weightshift. All these play a roll in slicers and anyone or combo is the solution.

Re: the dreaded slice

Im much the same as you and have been reliably informed that one of the major causes of this, assuming that grip and stance are ok and of course your swing plane is fair,is that on the backswing the right knee MUST remain flexed as at address. It does help believe me but if thats not the cause i would recommend this gr8 site http://www.golfpro-online.com/physio...yourswing.htmlGo to the tuition 1 series by Leslie King.Mark.

Re: the dreaded slice

Wooston,

Welcome to GTO! Does your shot start left and go right, start straight and go right or start right and move right?

I'm taking for granted your right handed. Could be a few things maybe we can go over a few fundementals and see when in your setup the fault is.

Fix the root cause and avoid the many compensations bandaids.
