| I gather from reading a number of websites that regripping clubs is a relatively easy process. Do many of our members DIY or do we tend to take them to a pro. My Irons are fairly cheap with steel shafts so I am not too bothered about having a go myself...my question is what sort of grips to use! What do people recommend generally. I have fairly large hands, I tend to play in the dry (Wimp !) and in the UK (if that helps at all). I gather the process is pretty easy involving white spirit and some gripping tape and a vise/clamp attachment to protect the shafts. Do I use the same grips on Woods as I would on the irons ? I note my putter has a completely different grip - so I guess thats a separate issue. Is it true that adding an extra layer of tape will make a great deal of difference to the thickness of the grip. Should I consider thicker grips ...how would I know ? I dont want to waste a fortune trying too many different grips. Are the grips on a manufacturers set the same as the grips sold separately..or do they have special grips made or just have them made standard with their logo or name on them? So many questions...so little money... That should give everyone something to answer !!!! Nic <grin> |

| Re: Regripping Clubs Hi Nic, Ok regripping clubs is a piece of cake. Golf Pride website gives you step by step instructions which you can print. Make sure you use the correct double-sided tape, I bought a roll from my local pro shop for £6.50 which will regrip about 100 clubs. I use Golf Pride V55 grips coz they got a nice grip guide for the hands cost £3 per grip from Nevada Bob's. As to grip size you need a grip where you left hand fingers just contact the pad on the heel of your hand when you form your grip. btw grips come in standard, mid-size and jumbo try them for size. Good luck. Any probs email me regards Bill |
