The New Pro V1 Is On Its Way!

THE NEW PRO V1... IT'S COMING!
STOP PRESS…Today’s Golfer has learned that Titleist have a new and improved Pro V1 golf ball for this year. The product has already been given to selected tour professionals for testing and feedback and it is expected to be in shops in April. Early indications from tour pros suggest the new ball spins slightly less than the Pro V1x, has a more resilient cover and has an improved ball flight. sonds great wonder we the public can get there hands on it

Sounds great DNA,

I use the PRO V1 origional as the PRO v1x is for faster swing speeds 100mph+

Does it say who the new ball is aimed at pro's or the average bod.

Re: The New Pro V1 Is On Its Way!

Bad news boys! The New V1 is aimed solely at the tour-speed ball speed. Golf ball manufacturers design for ball speed and launch spin rates rather than swing speed and this one is definately for tour-type players.

Essentially, if you swing at anything less than 110mph with a driver, the new V1 ain't for you.

The outer cover is harder and yes the ball spins less than the V1x. But the tour players develop huge amounts of spin anyway. They develop as much (maybe more) spin with a 7-iron as most good amateurs develop with the wedges!

The only way to know whether a ball works for you is to try it and you should get the chance. Don't expect the sort of waiting lists we saw with the V1 and V1x.

I don't really understand you V1 addicts. Why don't you use a decent golf ball, like the Strata Tour Ace? I think I need to educate you all.

Re: The New Pro V1 Is On Its Way!

Teach,

I can't say that I'm a V1 addict (as I've never used them), but I was looking at getting some to try out. Are you saying that the average player will benifit just as much from the Strata or lower cost balls? Also, as a beginner what would better suit someone of a higher handicap, a distance ball or a higher spin ball? Thanks.

Travis

DNA,

How are the Noodles? Though isn't it "Rotini?" Anyways, I'm in the middle of ball shopping. I'm just trying to get some feedback from golfers out there and see what works for them. Thanks for anyones help.

Re: The New Pro V1 Is On Its Way!

I have been playing the various forms of Strata's ever since 1998 when they came out. I started out using the Tour Professional, then Tour Ultimate and then onto the Tour Ace when they came out.

I have been lucky enough to get anything and everything I ever wanted from golf manufacturers both on and off the tours. Bit I've stuck with the Strata golf ball. Well, for a short while I played NikeDD (for 2 tournaments) and the V1 for about 2 months but I prefer the Strata hands down.

Strata is a multi-layer golf ball and suits just about anyone. It's soft enough for lower swing speeds and spins enough to get it to spin back or hold the green.

Unlike a lot of other golf balls they are durable too, I play 9 holes with them when I pay for them. I went through V1's at the rate of 6 a round!

If the Strata golf balls are too expensive, try the Top Flite XL3000 super soft or maybe the Precept Laddie.

BTW: I don't get paid by Strata! I wish ...

Re: The New Pro V1 Is On Its Way!

DNA,

Thanks for the offer. However, I think that international shipping across the pond is going to be as much or more than if I were to purchase a dozen here in the states. Thanks though. Do the Noodles actually have a nice soft feel to them and are they good distance as well?

Hogan's are great golf balls, I tried them once or twice. I found them not as responsive as my Strata golf ball around the greens, but again its takes getting used to.

Another GREAT ball is the Nike Gold. I really liked this one but didn't play it because it was being replaced the by the Black and there's another on its way too...

Travis,

Na ... the Noodle is like the Titleist NXT Tour. A hard cover with a soft inner core. They are far from soft but not a Pinnancle! A nice medium and not expensive.
