Your Favorite Shot!

Well just thinking what is your favorite shot and why? mine is using my lobwedge and flopping it out the long grass onto the green and let it roll up to the pin, i just love hitting flops over hedges as well

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

Great Thread,

My favorate shot is the pitch in from 100 yds with backspin, it looks great when you go past the flag and bring it back.

Pity you only get good backspin this time of year when the greens are wet, they are usually to dry in summer for loads of backspin.

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

My favorite to watch is when I catch the ball on the screws with my driver. A solid drive can get up to 340 yards - my playing partners are all in awe when I unleash one of those drives!!!

My bread and butter shot is a combo. We have quite a few short par 4's (about 350 yrds) so I get to practice this combination of shots on many courses at least twice a round. Before I tee off I call out that I am going to land my ball at the 150 marker with my 5I and then put it tight to the pin with my PW, usually with success. This is the most dependable 2 shot sequence in my bag.

My favourite shot is the tap-in.

Too bad I don't get to hit it very often!

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

My favourite shot is a good 3 wood to the green which lands soft and runs up to the flag, it's a shot very few players play at all much less with any success.I played in a Ladies Invitational thing where a lady member invites 3 gents to play as her team. I was the low man in the team by about 7 shots and it was a texas scramble. So on one of the par fours (about 400 yards) I wound up and bombed one away but it took a horrid kick and finished in a bunker about 80 yards from the green. So then the other two guys hit theirs, one topped it about 100 yards the other found the heavy hay about 150 yards from the green, probably in real trouble. So the lady pulls the driver out and is a bit concerned she is going to do much the same. So I tell her to put the driver away and ask her what club she can hit the best in her bag. She says 7 wood but she only hits it 150 yards. I ask her if she will hit the fairway for sure and she says yes. So i tell her to take it and if it goes wrong we take my drive and try and salvage par from the bunker. This calmed her a bit and she speared one right down the line about 160. So we gets to the ball and I says to the two guys to have a lash with their biggest club and the lady hits the 7 again. After the three shots the best we have managed is 40 yards short in the semi on the left. So I pulls the 3 and I go down the grip about an inch or so. I hit the best shot of the day right there it climbed to about normal 3 iron height and landed 20 feet short of the stick and ran up to 6 feet past. Luckily I played a similar shot on one of the long par fours later in the round to prove it wasnt luck!!!!

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

Mine's a lovely crisp iron shot that climbs and climbs before dropping softly on the green. There's a couple of tricky Par 3s on the course I play that generally require a 4-iron. There's nothing more satisfying than hitting it high with a hint of draw and it pitching dead.

5 wood shots here, I love the sweeping the ball off the deck. I have made many par 4 greens with this club after flopping my drive.

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

Definately the driver off the fairway for your second shot on a par 5. You walk up to the tee expecting to birdie all the par 5's. It doesn't happen in real life but sure gives you a good chance.

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

DNA,

You need an open stance and a real soft swing.

I have never hit one as far as off a tee.

Re: Your Favorite Shot!

I have 2 favourite shots:

1. Hitting a good drive with my Cleveland 460 Launcher. The ball climbs slowly, peaks and then falls into a nice draw ... pure poetry in motion.

I especially like playing with partners and I normally hit it 260yds or so and then when I find a hole I like, I crash it out at 300/320yds. They stand there and look something like this: ! I did in on Sunday ... I smashed one over some trees and crossed the bunkers and measurered it at 275m, 40m further than normal. I do it for fun to see their reaction (its cruel but fun).

2. Hitting my SW from like 85/90m, hitting the green and then watch it spin back. I've just changed from Strata to Nike One Gold and those babies spin BIG time!
