Driving Range For Under 20 Quid

Last year I decided to construct myself a back yard range.

I purchased a practice net for £15.99 off Ebay. This is the type with two 3m upright poles and guy ropes.

Set the net up so that the poles lean at about 15' off vertical towards you. This prevents the ball bouncing back and hitting you.

A small length of garden hose with an inside dia' of 13mm cut to the height you tee up plus 10mm. push and glue a piece of wood dowel of 13mm up one end of hose and screw a previously drilled piece of flat aluminium to the dowel. You should end up with a tee that looks similar to a driving range rubber tee. The flat plate should be at least 100mm X 100mm square.

Find a piece of deep pile carpet which is bigger enough to stand on and still hit ball off comfortably. Cut a hole in carpet the same size as hose 13mm and push hose through from underneath.

A few light practice shots to get distance of mat right, the more lofted the club the nearer you need to be.

No more cut up lawns and I use a driver full bore with mine and it works fine.

Heres a tip, best driving mat in the world:

An everyday brown doormat, its tough, resilient and actually feels quite realistic.

When I had my practice net i used the same one for nearly two years before it even looked worn.
