| Re: Anyone run their own golf League? Great idea. My buddies and I were going to start an invitational tourney this year. There would be 6 of us and everyone had to invite 3 people (that they would be able to personally verify their handicap). Fees would cover greenfees, carts and food plus $10/person which would go to low net. Everyone would bring a prize (preferably a prize that was donated to them or by their company so no one had to shell out extra $$) and that way everone would go home with a prize. Each year, everyone who attended the previous year would be invited back, as long as they brought 1 person with them, and it would continue on like that year after year. If it gets big enough, you could start grabbing some corporate sponsorship dollars. Unfortunately things aren't going to work out this year, so maybe we'll be able to start it next year.....

| Re: Anyone run their own golf League? That's pretty cool, pasta - an unofficial league, complete with tournaments. I think I'd do it, but a few days of skills competitions - a whole round of bingo, bango, bongo, boom. Each player gets a point for the following: Longest drive in the fairway, first on the green, closest to the hole (once everyone is on), first in the cup. At the end of the round, those with the most points, wins. The most fun tourney I ever played was just that - a fun tourney. Mixed teams of 2, and the tourney went like this: Hole 1: Best ball. A dogleg right, red staked along the right side. The condition was that if you tried to cut the corner, and failed, you brought your ball back in play on the tee side. You could drop anywhere in the fairway you liked, and took a penalty stroke. Hole 2: Scramble. Hole 3: Best ball. Once you get to the green (alternating shot) there's a badly bent left handed putter. You have to use it to putt. Hole 4: Best ball. The tee chocks are halfway to the green (short par 3). Hole 5: Alternating shot, ladies tee off. Once you get to the green, there's an inverted ice cream container with 4 holes cut in it guarding the cup. Put the ball through the hole, into the hole. Hole 6: Alternating shot. On the green are 5 croquet wickets. You've gotta putt through the wickets before you can putt at the hole. Hole 7: One player plays tee to green. The other player putts. Blindfolded. The player that played tee to green tries to help the blindfolded putter. Hole 8: Alternating shot. On the green, there is a big cone guarding the hole, made of metal, and lubricated well. Good luck with your putts. Scores of 20 are not uncommon. Hole 9: Best ball. Everyone tees off from the ladies tee - sitting in a chair. Hole 10: Best ball. Hole 11: Best ball. Hole 12: Best ball. There's a piece of rope 200 yds in the middle of the fairway. Closest to the rope wins a prize. Hole 13: Team score. Add both players score together. Closest to the pin wins. Hole 14: Team score. Hole 15: Team score. Hole 16: Alternating shot after Long Drive. Longest drive in the fairway wins! Hole 17: Alternating shot. Hole 18: Alternating shot. Hilarious!
