Why oh why do the american galleries insist on this crazy notion we need them shouting this rediculous quote every time somebody (American of course) putts. Golf is the last sport were WE actually tell referees or opponents that we MADE fouls. Fair plat and honesty go with the game so the galleries should respect what the golfers practice. ![]()

Re: Get in the Hole There is a simple answer to the question: American's have a culture unique to themselves. Don't try to understand them or their culture.Been there, done that and experienced it. We had our share of it too, even on our level of mini-tour. It irritated the CR*P out of me, it really did but if you play in America - live with it.

Re: Get in the Hole And I suddenly feel very out of place. You can't generalize everyone here who screams after they've hit their drives, and so on. I play a lot of golf and the worst case I have ever experienced was someone who would laugh really loud afterwards ![]()

Re: Get in the Hole Well, as a Canuck who's been fed American culture his whole life, I must admit I talk to my ball while it's moving. I'll encourage it to get in the hole, to stay up, to get down, to go, to stop, and a myriad of other things. I'll talk to myself and the ball the whole round, if someone doesn't stop me.

Re: Get in the Hole Ben, it's completely different when you are trying to 'guide' your own ball after the hit, but for the galleries to be screaming "You da Man," on the tee box or "get in the hole!" on the green as soon as the player makes contact I think is rediculous! If they feel the need to be like that, they should go watch football or NASCAR.

Re: Get in the Hole Yes, that is ridiculous - and I agree, it's annoying, as it happens every time. That's why I like watching the Nationwide Tour - none of that garbage.

Re: Get in the Hole It's funny - it's usually always only 1 person doing the screaming. I think it's teh same guy that goes around from tourney to tourney making an ass of himself at each venue! I agree that it's annoying and something that isn't needed. Have some respect for the game, the heritage and the players. This isn't a team sport or players are going head to head against each other (except match play) - it's the player vs the course and they deserve some respect.

Re: Get in the Hole Hehe... if you get on Americans for their golfers, they'll get on Europeans for their football hooligans.

Re: Get in the Hole Canadian fans are the best behaved (at a football match), but it must be because we're either polite, or disinterested. (Canada, as you can tell, doesn't have a very strong soccer program - in fact, the only sport we do wel at is hockey).
