Your worst ever golf shot ?

Which OB shot would you like to hear about?

Wokring at a golf course, I had the luxury of seeing a LOT of horrible shots. The clubhouse was behind 9 green and there were condos behind 18. I have seen many balls go off the buildings, not to mention OVER the buildings!! The parking lot was on the other side and there were a few broken widows in the 3 years I worked there.

I hit an absolute howler on Sunday. Par 3 212 yards into a strong wind. I decided to hit a little pokey 4 wood under the wind.


Comes out the shot completely and ends up pin high 50 yards right of the green!!! Then hit a near perfect pitch which landed a yard short of the (rock hard) green and rolled back down the slope into a bunker!!!!

Needless to say not my greatest moment.

There was also the 5 lost balls of one tee many years ago leading to an 18 on a par 4 when I finally got one in play I ended up in a bunker and took 3 to get out, steam was blowing out the ears that day.

I was on the range, my hands were sweaty and I decided to give the last ball a REAL rip, long story short, I let go of the club, which bounced over the roof of the clubhouse, but I later retrieved. BTW I didn't see where the ball went, but my guess is not straight!

not me but my best mate- playing 18 on old course st andrews into a strong win- hit driver then 5 iron pushed it right and bounced it offthe bonnet of a brand new audi tt sports car just as the owner was coming out of the shop. He came over livid demanding our insurance details- didnt have a leg to stand on- right infront of his car stood a sign saying park at risk of golf in progress+ he was parked on double yellow lines!- did feel quite sorry for him- only had 250 miles on the clock!

I was playing with a friend of mine and his dad, my friend hit a fairway wood from about 220 out on the 18th hole and he normally would not reach from there but the ball just cleared a bunker about 20 yards from the green, hit a rake lying in the grass and flew straight up in the air and landed right in the middle of an older ladies head, she dropped like a sack of potato's. As my friend ran up to see if she was ok she did not have much to say nor did her husband but there playing partner wanted to punch my buddy out and they got into a heated argument which my friends dad had to break up. I pretended to look for a ball in the rough the whole time taking in the action but did not know what to do. Quite the experience. Sorry a bit off topic but reading the others made me think of it.

I was going along quite nicely, nothing special, playing ok then: I snap hooked a drive on an easy par 4, straight into the trees O/B, after a little moan to myself teed another up and did exactly the same shot, now geting hot under the collar, teed up again..........Guess what I did exactly the same shot again............

I have since blocked this out of my mind but I think there was some confusion about my score on that hole 13 or 14.....

My worst shot HAS to be:

I was doing a company day and someone asked me how to play a bunker shot at the clinic I was holding. So, we walked to the bunker and I threw a golf ball in.

I explained the whole procedure and went through the meachnics and swing technique and mental approach ... blah ... blah ... blah ... For the practical demonstration I got all settled, dug my feet in, took aim and fired away ...

Um, how do I say this ... I fresh-aired it! I didn't even touch the golf ball or the sand! What the F*CK went wrong I haven't a clue but we all just packed out laughing, there wasn't a single person who wasn't on the ground in stitches.

Other than that, I guess the worst shot that was actually a shot must be when I thinned a chip on the 18th hole of a tournament, the ball took off, hit the stands at the back, bounced off the cart path and into the water on the side of the stands. A nice way to spend some money on the last hole!

K guys here is one of my worst shots ever about 7 months ago when I started playing! We were playing at myrtle beach, a very very popular golf destination here in the US. It was me and my dad, I had hit my drive into the fairway of the previous hole and was playing my shot from there. I thought I had lined up correctly but guess not, there is a huge house a little to the left of me, it was a par 5 I had decided to lay up. I hit the shot, dead pull to the left I heard a bang then another and someone yell damnit. I had hit the roof of the huge house, the owner was outside grilling on his deck and the ball fell a few feet from him bouncing off the deck. Needless to say we avoided the rest of that hole.

Hmmm, well out of the many, one in particular sticks out. It was at the end of one of my best rounds, was sitting at a very handy -2, everything going right... I was very quiet up to that point but started to get a little cocky, and as we reached the par 5 17th I was talking about how it wasn't too hard to get the green in two... I proceeded to sky my tee shot which caught in the wind and came back, landing about 30 yards in front of me, about 20 yards behind the ladies tee! Well, I got double there and triple on the 18th. Ruined my round and my wallet, having to buy all the drinks.

Moral of the story: With cockiness comes instant karma

has anyone actually been hit on the course? (by a ball!)

10th tee short par 5 475 yards, wanting the reach the green in two, pulled out my driver settled into the shot swang the club with everything, hit the club into the ground and it bounced over the ball skimming the top of it and putt backspin on the ball the ball rolled about 3 yards back behind the tee.

This isn't my worst shot and probably isn't the guy's involved but must be the funniest I've seen for a while.

I was waiting to tee off and the tee for one of the later holes was about 50yds from me. The guy there was then getting ready to let rip!! He skyed the ball and then , because he had lost sight of it, proceeded to run around like a crab bent over with his hands on his head.

He didn't realise I was looking till he glanced round at the end of his performance and saw me crying with laughter.

To the ever hit by a ball question. I had a buddy of mine get hit right in the thigh on a little executive course we used to play on. The group that hit him was a group of 14-16 year old kids. My guess was they tried to hit him.

Anyways wanted to throw that out there. One of my worst shots was actually on Tuesday. It was an extremely windy, rainy, and cold day. (In Hesperia, CA) After blowing on my hands about 10 times I step up to a 165 yd. par 3. Since I was hitting directly into the wind I chose an 8 iron. Settle in and hit one of the cleanest shots of my life. Ball sails over the green and the wind stopped the ball so it came straight down and goes about 2 inches into the sand. I can barely see the ball at all. Best part is I am on the back edge of the bunker so I not only have to somehow hit this ball that I can barely see, but I have to somehow hit it directly behind where I had to stand to even reach it. I just dig my feet in and hit through about 2 feet of sand and dislodge my ball enough to now have a play at the green. Next shot I skull the ball and hit it over the green into the lake on the other side of the green. So I end up taking a 7.
